Definitely remove the battery for bench testing. You have caused a dead short to the battery and it "maybe" savable. Some auto parts stores will have a true battery tester (I.e. MIDTRONICs) for loan, that MIDTRONICs type unit should/will stabilize the electrolytes to the point of taking some...

I dont know if this has anything to do with the noise,but that is not what my @Rockworkx thumb screws look like.The one being tightened in the video looks like the forward top thumb screw.

Is yours installed correctly? there is no way for flop as the front of the Jtop goes under the latch locks WITH 2 locking clamps on top of that to prevent any flop.. from your pic, it looks like your's installed upside down.
