Well could be you were shipped the wrong ones by mistake. I’d suggest reaching out to GOBI with that picture and see if they have a solution.

I can tell from the pictures that’s not right. With that gap critters can climb right in. You sure you have them oriented the correct way or maybe they are side specific?

So I first added the hammer built reinforcement with the accessory arm plate. Once the jerry can mount arrived I used that as a template to mark my bolts. I made sure the mount and can wouldn’t make contact with the taillight when the tailgate is at the 90deg open and marked my holes. From there...

Nice! Mounting point is flat enough for stacking. My concern really is the clearance issue. Here are a couple more shots showing how far out the front support is.
