I'm for everyone paying less, AND at the same time I'm for those with high incomes paying more than those with low incomes--and not having outrageous SALT deductions.

Define "paying more". We're talking not deducting for excessive SALT that come from choosing an excessive lifestyle. If you're paying $100K in property taxes, that's a you problem. Not a me problem. Don't insist it's your right to pay those with before-tax dollars, and make it a me problem...
