Does that mean 114 auto drivers want to get into a manual? Of course not. I put up those numbers to illustrate that that the take rate for manuals is much higher in enthusiast vehicles. Sure, not many point A to point B appliance drivers are interested in a stick. But I'd also bet a lot of...
I just did a quick search on eBay of 2015-2019 mustangs (Ford's other enthusiast vehicle). 116 Autos and 109 manuals. That seems like much more than "a very small percentage "!
So far, 9 out of 10 are choosing the 2.7, but they're only offering it with the 4 banger. Brilliant move, Ford! Did you guys even do any market research???:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Edit: Ford's marketing people should have been here on bronco6g two years ago, conducting this very same...
Exactly! I'd probably be much happier if they just gave us good off-road hardware, and left out all the GOAT software modes. That would be so much less complex (and le$$ crap to go wrong), and might knock quite a bit off the price as well!
It surely does sound better, and then there is - let's face it - the cool factor. If you're building a vehicle for enthusiasts, give them enthusiast options!
I can't seem to find any pictures or info on a Bronco with dual exhaust. You would think surely the V-6 would have it, at least as an option. I did read, however, that no F-150's are getting duals either, even with a V-8...
I seriously doubt that Ford would go through all the time and money to design and build an all new, purpose-built transmission for one single vehicle, just to do that. If that was the plan, they could have just used the 6 speed the 2.3 is paired to in the Mustang (with different gearing).
And...
I'd certainly hope that adding the Sasquatch package to a Badlands is significantly cheaper than adding it to most other trims, given that most of the goodies are already on it.
It also makes things much more profitable! You say you want the Homelink garage door opener? Sure no problem, you just have to shell out (God knows how much $$$) for the Lux package with the navigation and B&O sound system. We should be able to spec options al la carte without paying for a whole...
I would bet if you looked at those who ordered Wranglers to their own specs and preferences (rather than what's in stock at the local dealer), the take rate for the manual is much higher.
This whole thing is surprising to me. Ford had seemed to get it, that manuals are important to...
