I thought the same which is why I bought this very winch mount. It attaches to the frame rails. The plow is not very heavy and is only on when it’s needed to clear the property. It’s actually a great design for a plow that gets used very little. It would be terrible for commercial use.

I'm constantly turning 4A on or off in varying conditions so I know what it does when I might need it. Sport mode, normal mode, etc... I haven't found any faults with it on or off. That's the beauty of the "A" Rain, snow, sand, mud, it just goes!
Last winter I had no problem going through some fairly deep snow, but did get it high centered on a packed drift at the end of my drive. It rode up on the skid plate until the weight flattened it down. Easy to dig out, but I’ll be more careful around drifts.
