If your camera is not fitting there may be some slag there for the de-molding of the part. You can use a countersink bit to clean away any slag that may inhibit the camera from seating fully. This should correct the issue you are referring to.

Not missing what you are saying at all. The screws are self-drilling metal TEK screws they have no problem going through the aluminum overmolded panel, it is the steel panel (elephant head) that you need to avoid.
If you look at the post you quoted there is a metal plate on all of the years (yes this is a Sasquatch carrier) the holes on the outside (red) go on the outside of the plate the holes on the inside (blue) go on the inside of the plate you can use either for mounting.

The resistors are fully potted, they can get dirt, water, mud, etc. thats not going to be an issue just be sure the connector is not getting wet, that is where an issue may come from.
Your tail light is attached to sheetmetal, the bumper is attached to the frame. You are better off letting the bumper do its job than risking the tail light impact compromising the sheetmetal.
