Sad to see what the Ford rep told me last week come to fruition.
Hate to say this, but I've a feeling I'll be waiting a year as my hype has been deflating at a rapid pace. All these little compromises and changes and numerous instances of false or inaccurate details are really starting to add up.
Every time I see the Cyber Orange one I remain hopeful that Ford will #SaveTheMansquatch or, at the very least, allow me to add a lift and big tires to the Badlands when ordering in December. I will never give up!!!
When I went and found one I liked it was around $55K and that was in excess of 10 more grand than I paid for what is ostensibly a fully-loaded TRD Off Road.
I'm not blessed with your height but I have broad shoulders and just am not a fan of how I sit in them. Still, I enjoyed it--it was the cost that really put me off.
Then again, you can go by any number of Jeep dealers and find a few on the lots. Same can't be said of the Tacos, at least...
I liked the Gladiator a lot, although it's still a bit cramped like all Jeeps are IMO. Get the deal with tow rating though. I don't have any toys or else I'd likely be in the same boat lol.
You were able to find a T4R? I know pretty much all new Tacos are gone (resale value is sky high, wish...
Yeah, my main goals are DD, light overlanding/camping, and decently capable platform for wheeling. That's why I went Badlands. Have a bit of a philosophical question as to whether I bite the bullet and upgrade to the 6/auto/Squatch (provided Ford doesn't reverse course with the Mansquatch) or...
Yeah, that was a nonstarter for me when shopping last year. Have read way too many complaints about the autos (and crawl control) and I'm still not positive I'm personally ready to give up the stick.
It's been a great truck and has been way more than adequate wherever I needed it to be...
Is it an auto? Everything I've read about the autos from Toyota leads me to believe they're heinous, especially the newer ones. My 6MT has been bulletproof.
Doesn't mirror any of the actual experiences I've had or seen, although the third gen is a bit of a meme over on TW. IIRC, it has 1 less lb. ft. of torque and like 20 more HP?
I'm not really talking about street performance here, but everything I've read indicates the 4.0 is just not as great as the 3.5 (while the 3.5 introduces new wrinkles/issues).
Plus, no stick, so you're beholden to Toyota's famously awful automatics.
My Taco is just fine, but it's definitely not as punchy as the last gen. My understanding is the latest gen 4R is a pretty steep drop and the 4.0 is just bad bad.
