not sure how you got twigs inside of the housing, but bet you had fun doing it .
When I had mine fail (and ended up fixing it myself), the problem was the brushes got fouled and hung up so they didn't make contact with the shaft. I had to take the alternator apart and washed everything...
Just got back from a trip to Iceland (highly recommend). Didn't really expect to see any there, but there were a couple. All were in town or on the highway. There really isn't off roading there, they are hard core about staying on established roads and tracks. Wintertime and on glaciers is...
Starting to get this intermittently. '22 Badlands, high package. It will do it right after I get in and start it, so keyfob not going to sleep. Has done it with keyfob in console and in my pocket. Has done it as I shut it off and got a message to restart or get my keyfob which makes no sense.
Yep, will be there. Leading the Chumstick trail rides on Friday and Saturday, not in the Bronco though. @Mikerider is leading the Liberty Area trail ride on Thursday with his very nicely set up Badlands.

Is that a newer shield? Doesn't seem to have the opening to access the battery terminal connection (only difference between the original and new TSB replacement that I've seen).
Under the plastic cover where you can access the problematic brushes
You had the alternator out on the trail (or roadway)? So close, all you had to do is pull off that back plastic cover and you could probably see down to where the brushes are fouled. A little clean water and maybe a pick to clear them and you would have been on your way.
I've used Gaia as a road map on a couple of long road trips recently, not for navigation per say, just to have a decent map up on the screen to watch routes and the general area. I have found that it's possible to get the location marker back if it disappears by going back and forth with full...
Make sure to try the different maps that are available. The NF 2016 map is really good, but doesn't cover areas outside the NF. The Gaia Overland map is actually pretty good and does show roads everywhere. The Overland maps download for offline use pretty quickly, some maps can be a real pain...
Not that I saw pulling it. Plus there's a plastic cover over the back that covers the diodes (I think the design team felt this was enough to prevent debris intrusion). To get off a trail (assuming it's not too far in and have trail mates), I think the best bet is to just swap batteries if...
Can't tell if he completely disassembled it and cleaned the inside, that's what it takes. What I found was that one of the brushes was fouled and was stuck. It quit making contact and no juice. I didn't take pictures of it till after it was freed while washing it. It was then that I knew...
Yep, have done it and it works. A little easier if you can find a new belt so you can just cut the old one off.
And it was because of you alerting me to it that I tried it, thx again!
All they needed to do was seal the rear shaft opeing so dirty water couldn't get in and foul the brushes. Was looking at the back of an old alternator I had from my '75 International. The rear shaft opening was sealed, if they figured it out back then, why did they change things.
Interested in seeing how you mount the Starlink. Saw a picture of a Superduty that had it mounted flat to the hood. Not familiar with how Starlink works in motion, but that would be great.
Have been using an Android tablet with Gaia and Orux Maps (concurrently) on my trips to Baja. Haven't...
