trying to overcome this kinda reminds me of those trying to overcome Gladiator trucks' lack of power for towing, bigger tires, etc.
You would hope manufacturers would take into account the customer's intended usage.
Yep, a Jeep truck is on my list (as long as it has the Pentastar, I can't seem to call it "Gladiator" ;)). So far I can't justify the price, and still hoping for V8 news; preferably 5.7. Very unlikely though. Was hoping the upcoming Bronco would result in lower prices. Hasn't happened yet...
Camper, cargo trailer, maybe my boat for short distances. Primarily wanting tow capacity for the cargo trailer, a tall 7 x 14 weighing 4440 loaded.
Not a huge deal; I'll buy something else. Ford won't miss me in the least. Just surprised by the 3500, and curious about others in a similar...
I've been wanting a fun SUV with a tow rating of 5K or better. Was hoping (and expecting) the Bronco to provide this. Back to the drawing board.
Considering the V6 (ugh) Jeep truck or the '21 Durango SRT. Part of me feels like the Jeep/Bronco climate will be much better for the consumer in...
I'll say this:
I love wagons.
and this:
Hey Ford, active outdoor oriented people often like to/need to tow stuff. 3500 lbs? How very Jeep of you . . .
2021 Durango SRT looking better and better. Revisit Jeep and Bronco in a few years...
Leaving the tow rating low gives Ford another "reason" to offer a Bronco truck.
They will still sell a huge number of Broncos, but not one to me. 3500 is a deal breaker (for me!).
But I'll keep watching, just in case. The Gladiator is back to the top contender for me.
There sure is a lot of of Sheldon Cooper's "You're having fun wrong" mentality in these towing threads (unfortunately, without his emotional detachment).
I guess I won't ask what folks think will happen to Jeep's tow ratings when/if they put a V8 in the Wrangler/Gladiator. Prime opportunity...
SAME HERE! Wanted to buy the Bronco instead of a Gladiator, but as of now that's out. I need to pull a 4400 lb (max load) cargo trailer. Want something fun that can do it.
Maybe the Bronco will make the Gladiator cheaper. It sure needs to be, IMO.
So, so agree.
If Jeep had utilized the 5.7, I'd have a Gladiator by now. So now I await more info (pricing, towing) on the Bronco instead. If Jeep prices the JT more realistically (IMO), then I'm still interested in it. I want to tow 5K comfortably with something fun. Right now, for me...
Power seats without memory function: no thanks, I'd rather have manual in that case. Two drivers in this household. Just got rid of a car (Toyota) with power seats and no memory. We hated it.
I'm sure Ford is LOVING that Jeep is emphasizing the 6.4 now. IMO, the 5.7 would be a much bigger sales response to the Bronco. The 6.4 would/will cost a truckload. A Jeep with 5.7 would be a perfect match, IMO. They could price it very competitively and sell a ton of them to Jeep loyalists.
Denial is not just a river in Egypt. Head in the sand / blinders for many.
The saying I've come up with: Brand loyalty shouldn't be blind loyalty.
They did NOT like that months ago on the JT forum when the Bronco was still a ways off. Some on the forum are starting to realize the Bronco is...
