And anyone with engineering experience will tell you that if a solution involves trade-offs, you mitigate them. Auto start-stop? Add a better starter, use synthetic oil, and refine the algorithm that determines when it engages. Those challenges were addressed 10 years ago.
To each their own, and you can turn it off with a button press, but it's not causing all that imagined wear and tear, and it does save fuel in a vehicle that already gets crappy mileage. I've had auto start-stop in 5 cars since 2008 (including the Bronco), and each one gets better with the...
Since a F150 with the 2.7L Ecoboost is rated to pull 9,000 lbs, I'm guessing the Bronco could yank your boat out of the water without breaking a sweat. Of course pulling it safely down the Interstate is another matter, but that's more about wheelbase length.
Mine did that about a week ago. The flickering looked kinda cool, like Matthew McConaughey trying to reach earth from another Interstellar time dimension.
Shortly after, I got a notification in the Ford Pass app that my display software had been updated, so I assumed that's what caused it. All...
A year ago I had to fight BMW North America for a year over a warranty repair while my car sat in the dealer's back lot waiting. For the insurance side, I at least was able to tell my agent that the car was not drivable and they reduced my premium to something small.
I've had Fords, as well as myriad other Asian, American, and European makes, so I guess I don't have much brand loyalty. Of course if I get a lemon, I'll never go back (looking at you Subaru and BMW), because there are too many alternatives out there.
I'd been looking at overpriced restored...
I had a Ram 1500 with a bed cover, and the list of things I can't do with the Bronco (which has the tow package and will have an aftermarket roof rack) is pretty short. I'll rent a truck from UHaul or, more likely, pay a kid with a truck if I really need to move something like a couch.
Some...
Maybe Ford could adjust the airbag algorithm so that if the speed is < 20 mph, require at least 1 full 360 rotation on any axis. Or wait until the 3rd bounce. 😀
Great write up with pics and video, @SkyKing! Thanks for taking the time.
I have the same rack in my garage awaiting installation, and now I'm debating leaving off the front rail, like you did. My main purpose for the rack is to hold a big Yakima rocket box (longer distances) and to lash on...
I've got a iPhone 13 Pro that's been working well on the factory wireless charger. I only mention so that you know that the same config works on some vehicles.
Unrelated to charging, I've noticed that the Bluetooth connection between my phone and the Bronco gets interrupted for a few hundred...
4 door.
I just measured the weight of the box out of curiousity. It's 71.2 lbs -- of course a little bit of that is packing material and the cardboard box.
I once had a Ram 1500 with a roof rack -- I could sneak in the garage with a Yakima Rocketbox on top if I lowered the air suspension to the lowest level and drove slowly. I figured I would forget to lower, so I put a step ladder in the way to remind me.
I ordered and received a BA full roof rack (black). Haven't had time to install it yet, but the box is heavy, lol. Hopefully I can tackle it this weekend.
FWIW, I ordered it just after the February batch ran out, so they said it'd be mid-March, but it arrived at the end of February.
IMHO $4800+ is an unreasonable amount of ADM and every ADM slapped on a hot vehicle from any manufacturer will just hasten the shift to manufacturers wanting to cut dealers out of the sales model.
On the flip side, you're the one who ultimately decides the value of a vehicle at various price...
As I contemplate lights for the end pockets or the top of the modular bumper, I was wondering what everyone's experience is with regard to rock damage (as in pebbles thrown up from another vehicle). Do you use rock guards sometimes? Only on road trips? Never? Do you use clear/amber protectors...
