I think they were trying to smoke folks out… doing their best to keep the orders for those willing to drop it and fulfilled the ones that wouldn’t drop.
Looked upt eh part number and found the size specs on a FOrd Dealer site... it is the original model I thought:

I would also suggest documenting all of this, emails from dealer, take phots regularly as it changes.... you may need it if this does become a warranty thing that they continue to deny until it's too late. as mentioned above... I'd ask another dealer about it... some of these dealers are really...
I drove a soft top BD bronco for one year, traded it in with 17k miles for a brand new 23 BD with a hard top… everything else was the same minus color… but I paid $1200 out the door for the new model. Was pretty happy with that!
There are sunglass holders that you can buy that attach right at the same area… why take out a very desired feature of the bronco?
You do you but it seems like a weird thing to take off… there’s also a small area in front of the shifter that holds sunglasses real well.
