R&T has long thought of itself as the most high-brow of the US car mags. The author opening up by stating his dislike of the Wrangler is not surprising. Much more surprising was his positive thoughts on the Bronco and reconsideration of the Wrangler.
I would rate it behind the feature that required your seatbelt to be fastened before allowing the car to be started. This was in an era when seatbelt wearing was just beginning to be legislatively mandated. Lifting your butt off the seat would defeat this early nanny device though.
With a finite amount of time, Iād consider skipping Vegas, except maybe to eat, and making an eastern detour north of SLC to drive through Grand Tetons and Yellowstone NPs. Moab/Arches/Canyonlands are awesome, but deserving of their own destination trip. Tetons & Yellowstone are as well, but you...
I was at Tuweep last Labor Day. One of the two other vehicles there was a Jeep on tour, consisting of a man with his wife, teen daughter and dog. The man got out to relish the beauty of the spot, while the others remained ensconced in the idling A/C Of the jeep.
The man discovered them inside...
Not really a Fomoco guy, but love the old Cougars. Before falling for the Bronco, I figured my next toy wouldāve been an old muscle car.
If anybody else is unloading that style of Cougar, especially if itās a 4-speed, I might be coaxed into putting my Bronco plans on hold. Especially since...
Just got back from a weeklong 3500 mile road trip in my ā13 Land Cruiser. College World Series, Theodore Roosevelt, Wind Cave & Badlands National Parks, as well as Devilās Tower National Monument. The LC hit 150K miles and didnāt miss a lick. Still looks great. Iāve replace the radiator and the...
Arizona/Utah road trip last Labor Day weekend.
Horseshoe Bend, Colorado River, Page AZ
Tuweep, GCNP, North Rim
The Wave, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Coyote Buttes North
I had a Cayenne S. Gorgeous rig. Beautiful leather, wood, handling, braking. Got rid of it for a Land Cruiser. Very nice but not nearly as well-crafted of an interior, nor were the handling dynamics comparable. No contest as to which Iāve enjoyed more. Letās just say beauty is only skin deep...
ā22 Badlands Mansquatch. Wheel locks. CG, probably with white top. Possibly black top. Iāll order sound-deadening headliner, if itās not standard. During the winter I was vacillating on the mid package(heated seats), but the warmth of spring has me convinced I can live without it.
Iām not in a big hurry to get my rig. Right now the only thing that would deter me is if the dealer decides to mark it up. Iām getting a Mansquatch, so I know Iām looking at a ā22 model.
Nonetheless, itās not confidence-inspiring how badly Ford screwed-up the B&P. Iām pretty sure some teens...
Iām getting(and waiting) on a 2 door, Bad Mansquatch.
There is not any practical reason for my buying this vehicle, outside of the fact that Iāve got fewer miles in front of me than behind.
Iāve got and am keeping a Land Cruiser that will drive comfortably from coast-to-coast and do 95% of...
Iām a little disappointed the Badlands model doesnāt come with a few more creature comforts. All I care about is day/night rearview mirror and heated seats, but Iām not paying for the mid package just to get them. The only other option I might opt for is the better radio, but Iām not paying...
My salesman said 3rd quarter, but Iām fairly high on the dealerās list. Iād be quite pleased to have it by 9/30, but Iām not holding my breath.
It would be nice to pick and choose options without being saddled with nanny-driving aids and other stupid gewgaws included in the packages. As it stands, I will stick with a standard package Badlands even though there are a handful of options in the packages Iād likely spring for.
But as an...
