I'm leaving lots of following room like this and keeping the speed down, and it actually stops quite well with good trailer brakes.
I did 400 miles without fuss. If this was a regular thing I'd reinforce the hitch and have no worries.
ish
It's not going to scrape rockers but it's going to be lowish on airbags, IFS/IRS, AWD, V8, 5 spd fun little cruiser. And maybe one day it will be pulling the Bronco instead.
Riding on thin wall Goodyears no less.
Nope that's for the trailer. Figured I better at least have that since I'm committing another mortal sin for the towing pearl clutchers - the trailer tires are weather checked pretty good.
Manual. Had to pull a 5300ft mountain pass and it had no issue maintaining speed.
I've had a worse experience pulling this kind of weight with an old IDI F250...
Based on the Ranger's rating it's clear the 2.3 can pull a ton of weight but people still doubt it. I'm pushing the sane limits of the Bronco here at about 5500lb but there is zero lack of go power.
With the WDH it's very stable and confidence inspiring at 60 while knocking out 14mpg.
My experience is on a 2dr so there might be some differences, but I found the seals and such can stay. A few bolted on parts need to come off but most can stay, it will make sense once you're into it.
