Every fillup. You can never be too careful. Actually, just run some lines and a big reservoir and dump tank, and have fresh oil going in with old oil going out while the engine is running. Fill up the fresh oil reservoir, and empty the dump tank, when you get gas. Problem solved.

That's been my thought all along. I was confused initially, as the OP never mentioned "above the top dot on the dipstick" in the first post. (And I think the "several quarts over" narrative is exaggeration for effect.) You know, occasionally my wife gets weird messages in her center screen...

in which case, that top "dot" is what the owner's manual says it is: the maximum oil level. what tells you they overfilled it by a few quarts?

Is there a crosshatch pattern on the other side? Why am I thinking the "dot" to which you refer is the upper limit? If so, that would mean they didn't underfill it...

I would say, definitely take the Ford extended warranty, $0 deductible. My guess is, the dealership is offering some third party piece of crap.
