I found a Car and Driver article saying as much. With regards to the 2.3L rated at 300 Hp but will do 275 Hp on 87.

I can only go by feel with how I am driving. My 2.3L likes the Premium better than regular fuel. Maybe when I get to the 1000 miles on the Premium I can do the next 1000 miles on 89 to compare. That would shave about 20c a gallon, depending where you live. With any fuel you use I will say on...
I am getting another mile (1) per gallon along with the quoted 25 hp. At least it feels peppy with the Premium (Costco) fuel I am using. Full disclosure, I am a paying member but do not own any Costco stock at this time.
There is certainly more power with the Premium Fuel. I have the 2Dr Manual and it was quite noticeable when I first switched to Premium. I am going to stick it out to at least 1000 miles on the Trip 2 timer.
Was wondering if anyone was running Premium Fuel consistently. I know with the price of gas it may not be the best option. I filled up three times and set the Trip counter to keep track of it. I have also shown a picture for overall May not be as scientific as it could be but here are my...
Well, I have a stock 2Dr with the 2.3l MT and have no problems with brakes. I do down shift with the MT so maybe that is a plus. There is a trade off to performance with 35-37+ inch wheels and even 4Dr Broncos. Will be upgrading to max 32-33in wheels, since it is my daily driver.
I am going to try Premium Fuel for a tank full to see if mileage changes. I had gotten a warning that the Bronco was 50 miles from empty, before the last tank was filled.
I just got over 1000 miles with my 2 Dr MT Bronco Base. I was wondering what everyone else was getting with the MT or even Automatic Transmission. What tires size are you running? Post your pics.
