2024 Big Bend 40k miles. We haven't noticed anything and this is our first American manual transmissions we should be persnickety coming from Japanese cars/suvs.
We've done no special fluid changes or anything but 5k-ish oil changes and 10k-ish tire rotations.
Meaning you would not use that method or you wouldn't do it solo?
My wife isn't weak, but although I'm very aerobically fit as a marathoner I'm not muscled.
We will watch all the videos available, make sure we have a soft spot to let the top down on and have good weather so we don't have to rush.
No hoist. I've seen videos of somebody in the bed lifting the hard top off and carrying it to its resting place. That is what looks it is a bear. I think I watched this video
I'd be more curious when people switch from hard to soft and back based on geography.
This will be our first year switching living in Chicagoland and we are planning sometime in mid-May putting on the softtop and switching back in maybe mid-September. We are trying to find 5 days of no rain...
My integra gs-r used to sound like a motorcycle when it got close to redline. I did it for max horsepower when I was much younger. It definitely flew across the country rollers at 137mph which is the fastest I could get it.
Now I almost never redline any of our manual vehicles as they are...
We agree.
My wife's vehicle is a pavement princess and other than some interior doo dads won't be modified. She does drive it hard and fast which is why manuals are so enjoyable to drive and why we won't touch automatics.
I'm sure there are big off roaders in this group, but among Bronco and...
90% of people I would guess follow a normal maintenance schedule and drive normally. The people who neglect the vehicle have an outsized negative affect vs. the people who "baby" their vehicle. I feel any additional reliability/longevity vs. standard is nullified by the cost of spending...
Nice BC. Love the focus. Our Aussie and BC are good travelers. We are naughty owners as they are loose in the backseat. As an Xer the concept of rear seat passengers being buckled is still very foreign.
With humans and other animals genetics is the primary controlling factor. With cars is it good design, part quality, and a good assembly.
As a runner(80 marathons/ultras) the ideal fuel and training won't make me a Kenyan. My genetics are good for lack of injuries, but bad for speed and...
For manual transmission the parking brake automatically disengages in forward or reverse. I learned this on the forum and LOVE it as I can never remember which way the handle goes and I only need to know when I part not when I go. I'm a lot more patient parking than leaving a spot.
Two weeks ago my wife while backing out of the garage cleared the mirror, but started to turn and used the garage pillar like a can opener on the bumper. $185 to bend the garage track back in place and $1,700 in bumper damage.
Currently the dumbest thing I've done is not pull in full before...
I don't like the seatbelt dings either when I unbuckle as a passenger when my wife pulls into the garage. I haven't tried the dog experiment where my dog sits in the passenger seat loose. In my VW it used to go bonkers when she would sit in the front seat. My XTerra just turns on the...
Make sure you balance the miles and time duration. My wife puts on 30k miles a year so a 115k warranty is less than 4 years. She made 15 months with her factory warranty.
We were so paranoid after reading the forum we reduced our comprehensive deductible shortly after delivery and within a month had a crack. It has been a year without an additional crack so being proactive must've given us good juju.
I was tracking her progress on her long commute through a Chicagoland snowstorm. She bought gas as her fuel percentage went from 3% to 100%. Beyond that she wouldn't buy anything for the Bronco, but I did schedule her LOF at the dealer near her work. So simple as they pick it up and drop...
If the battery dies I'm in trouble as it is my wife's car because I didn't replace the battery in a timely manner.
It is a daily driver so unlike my sports car it doesn't drain for lack of usage. My mechanic checks the battery at every oil change and the "oops drains" like leaving the lights...
I want to keep the standard(not oversized) spare tire and still open the glass. It is possible as my 1993 Isuzu Rodeo had it without moving the spare tire to the side. It also had a truck tailgate which we liked. Really minor, but more realistic than a V12 2 door manual transmission in...
How about a simple one - allow me to open up the glass without opening up the tailgate?
Otherwise I don't think there is anything that I wish my wife's Bronco had that it doesn't. In the year plus and 40k miles she hasn't made any comments like "I wish it had..."
