I used to hate it until I found out it disengages when you shift into 1 or R and move. Engaging it isn't that big of a deal and it is only annoying when I want to move the car 5 feet on a flat surface <-- adjusting the car position in the garage.
I went the wrong direction with that.
My wife's Bronco past 37k at 15 months old and so 100k after 3 1/3rd years on less as she is driving more recently. For us the first sign of something good or bad is clutch replacement. 120k is average anything less is BAD and if we get 175k like we...
I run outside all year round. The beet juice brine they lay has a distinctive odor. Not awful, but not pleasant either. I haven't noticed it this year, but it could be timing as it has to be sprayed before the snow on dry-ish pavement.
My last 2 manuals were Jetta TDI Wagon and Golf Wagon both manual, but I believe they dropped manual for all but their GTI.
For BMW I'm not sure, but the M series is their tuned line, which was I trying to avoid for reliability. Also after my VW experience I doubt I will ever buy another...
Thanks for the info. On the build model you have to order the premium trim, but at least you don't to get the tuned engine. I drive too many miles and tuning usually makes the cars eat consumable components faster and the parts are more expensive.
$33k vs. $20k for the Versa is pretty different.
If you don't want that feature it is useless to you unless you get it for free, but guess what there is nothing in life that is free. It is impossible to build a vehicle that has exactly the features you want and no more.
I was talking about all vehicles, but in the case of the Bronco the cheapest 2.3L you can get is $39,995 and the cheapest 2.7L is $47,940 which is 19.8% more. Obviously content varies, but it does tend to be that you need to buy a lot of useless doo dads to get a more powerful engine. With...
You drive automatics, to me that is dead inside.
The Civic was governed at 112mph which is a comfortable fast. My Integra GS-R didn't feel more fun at its 137mph. The Z car had triple the horse and triple the displacement, but feels more fragile and lost pavement contact easier so it...
Maybe we are different, but having owned mostly Japanese cars and SUVs including their premium brands neither my wife or I have ever been concerned or bothered by noise or lack thereof with the exception of sunrooms and open top.
Even going between cars and SUVs drivability is fine and we...
Modern cars are already faster and more powerful than speed limits allow so why have a 12 cylinder bugatti as a daily driver vs. beep-beep small displacement roller skate?
My 1993 Honda Civic(1.5L 102hp) with a 5-speed manual is still the most fun car I've ever driven. Hard to get in trouble...
Nissan was the last carmaker to give up on a manual transmission daily diver car as 2025 was the last Versa year. Now it is just "go fast" overpriced japanese boy racers which I am not interested in.
Kind of excited as I "inherited" a 2012 XTerra PRO-4X with a 6-speed manual when my wife bought her Bronco. Still going strong at 239,932 miles, which we've owned since buying it new with 14 miles. Unfortunately I'm sure I will be disappointed as they won't have a manual and hybrids aren't...
Sometime in May I WILL attempt to install the softtop. I expect lots of cursing and arguments with my wife. We are great together intellectually as we worked so well in MBA school, but doing physical stuff together like moving furniture always results in a argument. <-- obviously setting...
Direct opposite we specifically bought the dual tops and after watching videos of the switching process we have attempted to sell our soft top that is still sitting on its original pallet to no avail. If we were in a nicer climate maybe, but in Chicagoland there are only a few "just right"...
Our cars are garaged so even when it was -11F air temp the garage was probably 20F. Beyond that even outside this is a manually tranny thread so it is not like we have remote start to warm up the car from the comfort of our home.
Winter blend supposedly is 1.7% less efficient so mileage is reduced although in my experience it is more like 6%(1 mpg). I divide my trip odometer by the gallons and always fill the tank fully usually at the same station and even pump. I've only had one car(2014 Infiniti Q60) where it...
Do you drive a lot of miles? My wife is driving 30k miles a year so we basically bought the base with heated seats, which you wouldn't need in your location. If you are driving lots of miles KISS and keep it simple as each thing you add on can break, wear faster, or has higher replacement cost.
