Just curious, what tuner cars use "gen"? I've always heard them referred by chassis/body/vin codes or some other vehicle specific nomenclature, never Gen anything. Like mazda rx-7 was SA/FC/FD, not 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen. GTR/Skylines are R32/R33/R34/R35. Silvias are S10/S11/S12/S13. Even...
What it says is that Ford tested it up to the amount they rated it for, doesn’t mean it wouldn’t pass the same tests with more if they didn’t choose to test it for more. The fact that the 2dr and 4 dr share a max tow rating means it’s not the max for the wheelbase as you say(for the 4dr at...
Last gens full size V8 had same or less hp and tq than new broncos engines... not to mention the ranger and f150 both use the current engines to tow 7k and 9k, so its 100% not the engine, that has absolutely nothing to do with the broncos low tow rating and wasn't at all the point I was making...
What I find particularly funny about this comment is that in other countries the Civic has a max tow cap(depending on year/engine) almost equal to the broncos 3500lbs(highest was like 1500kg which is about 3300lbs). It's not at all uncommon to see sedans towing 3000+lb campers in other coutries...
Stiffer suspension makes more tow capacity, is the sas stiffer than the normal suspension? Cause stiffer is counter-intuitive to the offroad capability sas is spose to enhance. Sas also adds more lift, a higher center of gravity isn't as good for towing. Sas is spose to be better for rock...
And whos asked for 40ft trailer towing power and 20,000lb tow capacity from the bronco?? Nobody. Theres a vast difference from the minivan tow cap the bronco gets to that of an f250. Nobodys asking to more than quadruple the broncos tow cap.
But if a 2dr squatch on 35s can tow 3500lbs, then why...
Unless they changed it recently, then no that’s not right, both have 3500lbs. The wrangler has that exact rating difference, 2k for 2dr and 3500 for 4dr. Which is one big reason a lot of people think a 4dr bronco should easily be capable of 5k, that’s the same 1500lb difference from 2dr to 4dr...
There’s a greater wheelbase difference from 2dr bronco to 4dr than from 4dr to ranger, yet the 2dr has the exact same tow cap, so wheelbase ain’t limiting it(to the 4drs current rating, of course its a limit at some point). And if a squatch suspension on 35s can still tow 3500lbs then non...
Oh I know cold, just never had to deal with an indexing window in it. I’ve literally gotten stuck inside a vehicle before because the door froze shut after I was inside driving it, had to kick it hard enough to break the ice from inside. I’ve been in Minnesota for work in well below 0 temps...
There are other vehicles with frameless windows that already do the indexing thing when ya open/close, maybe look up what people do for them in winter? Never had an issue with my camaro, even once when it snowed a few inches while I was at work, but I’m a lot further south than you(and generally...
The broncos is most likely just an artificial limit to keep it where Ford wants it. Otherwise there would be different tow caps between wheelbases and engines and gearing and tires that all change pretty significantly on the bronco. But there’s just a single tow cap across the board. Like those...
Sasquatch stickers(or badges, tire covers, switches, footrest, taillights, etc) on any generic 4x4 is a fairly common sight round here, why should that be any different for a bronco just cause Ford decided to get in on the sasquatch action? I doubt people with jeeps are going to remove their...
Others have already mentioned the fact badlands has this option with manual trans, but just to point out even if badlands didn’t, tons of other vehicles over the years have had packages with remote start included and fully able to add to a manual trans, you just don’t get the remote start part...
If ya can’t drive a manual while holding a 32oz drink, eating a hamburger, talking on the phone, and smoking a cigar can you even drive manual?
But at least there is a cup holder, driven multiple manuals without one at all. Specifically remember one time me and a couple buddies went to...
Don’t park directly under trees with the top down and you’ll mostly be fine unless you’re just super unlucky. Had it happen once in my convertible at family members house, nowhere to park that isn’t under a tree. Usually put the top up when I get there but just didn’t one time, and bird got the...
Gotta say I find it interesting that multiple people in this thread say the bronco is a direct 4Runner competitor, but when ya try and compare them in a towing thread everyone says they aren’t competitors and it doesn’t matter that the 4Runner can tow 5k cause the wrangler is the broncos only...
I’ve iterated my thoughts on this plenty, but I’m between options 2 and 3 here. The extra wheelbase on the 4dr should make at least a lil bump in tow cap without any real change, even the wrangler bumps 1500lbs for that. So my opinion is a real tow package shouldn’t be necessary on a 4dr to get...
Nobody’s asking it to do that. If you’re wanting to tow something 10k lbs or more yes get something specific to do that. If ya plan to tow every day of the year get something specific for that. There’s a huge difference between asking for a 1500-2000lb towing increase and the 10k plus most any...
