Do y'all think there will ever be a big bronco based around the F150 platform vice the ranger? If so how long in the future would you guess? Would love a power boost full size bronco with the big generator for camping that still allowed for the top and doors to be removed. Looks like the F150...
  2. Bronco GVWR Issues

I can't help but laugh at all those that so confidently state that the bronco's GVWR is artificially lowered. It may be true, partially true or completely incorrect. But in reality you have absolutely no idea if what you say is true. Look at any raptor, wrangler or power wagon and you have a...
  3. GVWR and general weight concerns

We all hope your are right, but I'm unconvinced. Ford could surely find a way to sell a roof rack or at least a sound deadening headliner if it was just an artificial number and not a real safety concern. Take it from someone that has an off-road vehicle with a soft suspension that lowers...
  4. Badlands Squatch Debate

I think some of y'all that are thinking about lifting later are thinking about this backwards. Remember that lift kits on an IFS are likely going to be significantly more pricey than on a Jeep. I think it's much smarter to sasquatch right away. You could probably even downsize to 33s and sell...
  5. Am I the only one who hasn't heard of Filson?

If you upland bird hunt then you likely would have come across them. They are known for quality but heavy gear. Lots of folks buy their pants and chaps for briars. Their material doesn't breath well enough for how I hunt and it's expensive so I don't own anything from them.
  6. GVWR and general weight concerns

And some people have lived through situations that make them cautious. We got sued by some jackass in New Orleans a few years back. My wife literally bumped into him at less than 5 mph and it was an 18 month nightmare. Literally, no damage to either vehicle or to his health, but he claimed he...
  7. GVWR and general weight concerns

So how would a 4 door have more payload with the same suspension and as a heavier vehicle and still stay under 6,000 pounds GVWR? I assume it would have to have a higher GVWR. I also am not buying that the payload is artificially low. Your payload is what the vehicle says. Every vehicle can...
  8. GVWR and general weight concerns

Wow, That's pathetically low. Good catch. So 4 door with the same suspension would be similar or less correct? That really could be the reason the roof rack isn't offered.
  9. Bronco traction control off-road ability?

It may be decent without but there is no real substitute for lockers. You won't miss them until you really need them. If you are talking mild trails no big deal, probably don't even need a bronco to be honest. When you are hundreds of miles from home with snow coming down, poor cell service...
  10. Defender vs Bronco Towing Capacity

The power wagon has a similar issue. It can tow 10k while the other gas HD trucks are closer to 15-20k. It's primarily due to the soft suspension. The engine is identical as is the frame, tires, etc. Some folks have put airbags in to help balance out a heavier load but that technically doesn't...
  11. Do I miss out on much without sway bar disconnect?

I thinks it will offer marginal improvement on an IFS vehicle. If it's between spending the money for the extra clearance of a sasquatch or a stock non-squatch badlands with disco you will in all likelihood get better off-road performance out of the extra clearance sasquatch 99.9% of the time...
  12. 37s with additional lift..wishful thinking

This is one of the tradeoffs off an IFS. It's going to be more expensive and more difficult to modify than a SFA. It will be possible but expensive to run 37" that actually perform well offroad. Otherwise just stuff them on a sasquatch and live with the lack of articulation and rubbing to look...
  13. Video: Bronco Conducting High & Low Speed Durability Testing, Johnson Valley

What gets overlooked on the RTI score is that on a SFA vehicle the axle is forcing down the opposite wheel. So you will get considerably more traction than on an IFS that is barely touching the ground, even if the RTI scores are the same. There is a good example in the video where they dislock...
  14. V8 HEMI 392 Jeep Wrangler production model announcement teaser. Will Ford answer with V8 Bronco?

There is still a lot to learn about the Bronco before crowning Jeep is dead. I do agree that you will see more soccer mom's switch over to the bronco but I'm not sure if that's a positive for future bronco development. Knock how the Wrangler rides all you want but solid front axle vehicles have...
  15. V8 HEMI 392 Jeep Wrangler production model announcement teaser. Will Ford answer with V8 Bronco?

If it is indeed the V8 that's pretty exciting! Hope this gets Ford to put one in the Bronco!
  16. GVWR and general weight concerns

I'll take your word for it, but that doesn't make much a lick of sense. So the GVWR changes on the other broncos when you add the rack?
  17. GVWR and general weight concerns

Isn't there safety and legal ramifications tied to payload? It seems pretty shady to undersell the payload leaving the owner liable if an accident occurs. I have no doubt that the vehicle can handle more than the payload says it can, but that's different than artificially setting it...
  18. GVWR and general weight concerns

I am really not understanding this. The vehicle weight plus payload that the suspension can safely handle = GVWR. Adding a roof rack doesn't change the GVWR, it just takes away from payload. Surely the vehicle will have at least 1000 pounds of payload which will exceed the 6,000 pound GVWR of...
  19. Let's do the MPG math

I completely agree. A 17 gallon tank getting 15mpg on the 2.7 squatch = ~250 miles of range. That's pretty awful and can't be true. I think it has to get closer to 20mpg = ~350 miles of range to even be semi-respectable. I really don't understand why there isn't a larger tank. Maybe this...
  20. Is anyone else considering a Bronco that is overkill for your daily use...but looks so cool you want to buy it anyway?

Badlands and to a lesser extent Wildtrack will likely hold their resale value significantly better. Jeeps Rubicon's and tacomas/4runners TRD pros hold pricing very well than lesser models. If I went with any trim less than a badlands I would definitely sasquatch it to mitigate that a bit...
