Am I foolish for hoping there will be enough (say 1%) First Edition cancellations that maybe some of us who were unable to get one due to the website issues can still get one? :)
Maybe Ford won't really care, and simply will just "cancel" those production slots since it doesn't really cost them...
I have no doubt that in the end, Ford will facilitate transfers like this.
Why? Because they already have you. They want this sale. They'll figure it out.
If they refuse, you'll simply cancel and refund. And yes, someone else will pick up the allocation, but it simply means they've lost *you*...
Yup!
And that's why I argue (on other threads) that it's wrong and inappropriate for a dealer to try to hit it with an ADM. *We* picked them. We could've picked a different dealer. Stop playing games and accept the "free money" in this magical allocation that we assigned to you (the dealership).
It's simple, really. These dealerships are mentally stuck in the past, and don't understand what this new concept of a reservation system is all about.
That said, Ford should've communicated expectations better to their dealership network.
I wish I thought of that. Really should've done that.
Granted, I couldn't even get in despite trying for hours and hours, and then the FE sold out. :(
If their website wasn't garbage, I really would've just reserved two at two different dealers.
Indeed. Why don't we all just wait until our reservations turn into actual production slots, and then deal with it when it's actually time.
If I was an unscrupulous dealership, right now, I'd simply say "Heck no! No ADMS." And then simply do a bait-n-switch when the car arrives.
That said...
As was said before, keep in mind, these are reservations meaning the allocation comes with you, the customer.
If I did not pick Dealership X, they would not have received my allocation.
If they charge a markup, I'm going to presume Ford customer service will eventually succumb to everyone's...
Unhappy that the website issues resulted in missing out on the First Edition. :(
I'm hoping that they'll realize they're leaving money on the table and open it up beyond 3,500 allocations. Maybe add another 1,000 to account for those who missed out due to the website issues?
Or, perhaps people...
Same.

Or, perhaps people will cancel their orders over the next few months and we might be able to...
