In a year or two, I've seen maybe two tube-door 4x4 driving around. Both were desert rats and not daily drivers. I don't think that they are DOT approved for road use in CA, but please look that up because I dunno for sure.

Biggest comfort upgrade to any seating choice, especially if you're on the taller side, is a shim to bump up the front seat legs. The seats come at delivery flat parallel to the floor and it's a bit like sitting on a bench, instead of being nestled and comfy with just a few degrees tilt.
