The BD comes with the same gearing (4.46) as the automatic Badlands. It has better gearing then the automatic Base/BB/OBX. The Base/BB/BD trims with manual transmissions all have 4.46 gearing also. So you might not need to regear with the BD and 35's.

Except that they offer the Mid package with a manual transmission on the Badlands. So they can offer it on the Big Bend and Black Diamond. They're just choosing not to.

The onboard storage bags are not available on the Black Diamond trim. If you use the build and price site they're an option for every other trim. I tried adding them to my Black Diamond order and it's not allowed. So no on board door bags or mid/manual for the Black Diamond.

Looking at the converted reservations on this site 60% (BD/BL/FE) come with the modular bumper standard. They'll just have to make more of those I guess. I don't know why the mid package would be a constraint. Ford should have most of those parts already.

I reserved a 7MT BD because I thought I’d be able to get the mid package on it. I’d rather have sport mode and the BD interior over the BL. I think I’m a fairly early reservation at my dealer so I can probably get a 21 but I may hold out and see if the MT mid happens in MY 22.

I was looking at Tacoma’s also. You can get a manual transmission trd off road for around same price a manual black diamond with the mid package would be if it existed. The Tacoma is a lot less then a manual badlands with the mid package will be.

They’re probably not allowing the mid package with the manual on the Big Bend and Black Diamond to make sure they’ll have enough manual transmissions for the Badlands. They just don’t want to say that. They won’t have enough manual transmission at launch. They’re prioritizing the Badlands at launch.

It’s part of the high package.

If they won’t allow the mid package with a manual on the Black Diamond I’ll probably end up getting a basesquatch with a manual. There isn’t really an incentive to get the Big Bend or the Black Diamond with a manual unless they make the mid package available.
