I beleive its for the gas door. It's probably an extra that was left behind. It's where the latch inside the gas cover catches when it closes and opens

These are repaired at the mfg site also in final paint. I used to teach the people in final how to spray waterborne. Silver and Orange was a hard paint to repair.

As an old dupont paint rep in all the mfg sites its probably from final paint. Maybe was a spot repair. Silver was always a hard one to match in waterborne if you didnt so it correctly.

So So Update: Got an email from the dealership and they said "they found" my certificate (lol)and will issue me a check in the some of $1995.00. Thanks for bringing this up, I would have never knew if I didnt call ford marketing.

Ford gave me a certificate number and said it was redeemed. Contacted dealer and I'm still investigating. Never received anything and not even mentioned at time of purchase or later. Where did my $1995 go? Not to me so far. 🤷
