I would try using a red scotchbrite on just the affected area, then work my way down in grit with sandpaper or sanding sponges, maybe start at 400 and try not go down too far, but knock down the high points and work your way back up to smooth it out. Then, you could get some of the Duracoat trim...

I believe there's an Inkscape to FreeCAD tutorial out there. These two should get you there, but I can't find the one I used the first time I did it. The basic steps are JPG to SVG, then import that into FreeCAD...
