Just got the call. My order is in. I've spent like fifteen months debating between Badlands and Black Diamond. Even up to the moment John asked me, I still wasn't sure. Gut check said "Black Diamond". So I guess that's that.
And now the waiting begins (or, ya know, continues...).
I've been going up about 5-6 slots a day. Finished yesterday at 157. Really crossing my fingers to hit that 150 mark today!
John has really created a monster with his daily spreadsheet updates...
I switched to the soft top, but getting my build sooner didn't really factor in. I started watching more YT vids showing off the soft top and reading more stories about the loudness, leaks and fitment issues of the hard top (even the 2.0 ones) and just kind of came to the conclusion that I'd...
Dang, that's some sweet data to share. Thanks, John!
I'm number 168... I wonder if that puts me in "hey, anything can happen!" territory of getting a 2022 given the new allocation formula or more of the "snowball's chance in hell" territory... Ha.
For what it's worth to anyone else who is stuck with this same dilemma and may read this thread in the future, I decided to order a Black Diamond. Here's why:
- I'm buying this as a fun, recreational vehicle. It's replacing my Subaru. If it can load up some kayaks and get me down a gravel road...
I'm trying to just kind of zen out about Levine's comments and the allocation nonsense. At first, I was mad... and even considered just cancelling my reservation, not giving Ford my money, and buying a Jeep instead. But then I really thought about it from "both sides" and kind of chilled out a...
I'm no help to you. I've been bouncing back and forth between BL and BD for a year and a half. BD has my favorite look - I like the two-tone interior, I like the steelies, I love the matte black grille, etc. It would easily handle 99.99999% of any offroading I'd ever actually use it for. But...
I was a July 23, 2020 res. Was thinking before this past week that that would get me comfortably in line somewhere in 2022 at Stephens. But with the new allocation formula, no clue when my number will actually come up.
Been looking at Wranglers lately. Not sure I want to wait another full...
I typically put Katzkins in all my cars. It's a very noticeable upgrade over factory leather in most non-luxury cars (or the best option if you get a vehicle trim that doesn't offer leather). Looks good in the Bronco.
If you install Katzkin yourself (not really difficult if you pick up some hog...
I'm yet another die-hard manual driver. I just enjoy driving a manual immeasurably more than driving any automatic. I get that modern automatics are "better", but so long as any manufacturer continues to sell a manual in a decent vehicle that meets my needs I'll spend my money on that over an...
I currently have a Honda Accord 2.0 Sport in a six speed. I've owned a lot of manual Accords in my life. They're shockingly great all around cars. Sorta fun to drive (compared to other cars in that class, at least) and they're good quality, reliable, easy to work on, etc.
I also have a Subaru...
I think this thread might have finally settled my cactus grey vs area 51 battle. CG looks great in the BB trim, so I think this is what I'll go for. Congrats to the owner.
Sorry if it's been asked, but I assume that's the "dark space gray" interior?
I love that this thread is still going. I've been struggling internally with this very debate pretty much every day since I put my reservation in nearly a year ago. Ha. I'm 50% "get a tricked out Badlands, that way you won't regret not getting the 'best' one later on" and 50% "dude, c'mon, a...
I switched from Area 51 to Cactus Grey after seeing it in person on a Ranger. To my eyes, it's very green. More seafoam than mint, though. Especially in the shade/dim light. Looks like a milky light green to me. Regardless of whether it's more green or gray, it's the most interesting color the...
From a quality/reliability/value standpoint, if someone like Toyota or Nissan were to make a new Wrangler-fighter solid axle 4x4 with a manual, I'd be just as jazzed (if not more jazzed) for that vehicle than for the Bronco.
But, as far as American manufacturers go, Ford has always been my...
I'm 40 and going 4dr. Been on the fence for a while. Would prefer the 2dr. But I think I'd kick myself for not getting the 4dr when I inevitably can't fit all my sh*t in the 2dr...
I have a manual Honda Accord with all those safety features - automatic braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, etc. No reason all this safety technology can't work with a manual. If it has to automatically brake you down to the point that you stall out while in gear, so what? You'd be at a...
First off, I apologize if this has been asked previously. Secondly, many thanks to John and the Stephens team for all the continued info and communication.
I'm leaning toward a Big Bend trim at this point, but would want to immediately swap to different tires. Could I pick out tires from...
