35s from factory definitely should be a thing, but the V8 honestly fixes the biggest problem the Wrangler has had which has kept me out one for the past 10 years.
60HP in 500 RPM is hardly a spike
A dressed 5.0L weighs less than a dressed 2.7L
The 5.0l by nature of being lighter will be more responsive.
Fuel economy should be equal if not better since it wouldn’t need constant boost roaming around the upper/mid end of the RPM range where these trucks...
Who praise did you mean to reply to, I for one understand what’s happening. The torque/power curve on the 5.0L is not showing any huge increase half way through the range as you claim - it’s quite linear as I explained.
Over 250ftlbs from the 5.0L before 2,000RPM isn’t enough to move the Bronco? I mean that’s referencing the outgoing 5.0L at that, so it should be slightly higher now.
You can’t simultaneously want amazing fuel economy and the boosted engine, your better off with the natural aspirated option.
I agree the 5.0 isn’t the best for low end torque, but it still has a mass quantity, and the linear power band of a naturally aspirated engine is going to be nicer than more torque in those low speed maneuvers, particularly when you already have low range engaged and have 4.46 or 4.70 gear sets...
I was shot down repeatedly when Ford revealed the engine options for stating just this.
An off-road vehicle is exactly where you want a naturally aspirated engine, you want to be able to have steep gearing and predictable linear power curves, all of which are better suited to naturally...
Not bad at all, but at the same time these figures should be more than reachable with the new 5.0L which is a bitter pill to swallow.
I predicted a little under a year ago that the fuel economy of small turbo engines would not be great in something geared so high, these engines will always be in...
I work some financial end of fuel cell manufacturing, let me tell you, hell no. We replace fuel stacks at $10k+ a pop (before labor and other costs) multiple times a year on fuel cell engines that cost $36k brand new. Not automobile mind you.
Problem would be much easier to solve assuming you can setup the suspension for off-road use.
Rivian at this point is still at best vaporware so it’s quite hard to know what details the final product would have.
At the price of an upper/mid trim Bronco vs a lower trim Tremor it’s a fair comparison in my mind. I have no need to use the Tremors towing but it will do 90% of my off-roading needs with a much better engine/drivetrain, much more room, and frankly I don’t think there will be a significant gas...
I’m sure but my point is that the passenger compartment and engine bay is structurally going to be the same, it would cost an insane amount of money for the warthog to completely deviate from the regular Bronco.
Think Raptor vs F150, the Raptor interior and engine compartment share the same...
It starts around 54k, and who the hell pays sticker for a full-size pickup? Tremor can be had for a scratch under 50k, at least 6 months ago when I was close to pulling the trigger I could.
