Heating the coolant heats the entire engine block including the oil. Nice factory option. So nice to step into the vehicle, fire it up, not hear valves rattling as oil struggles to get to the heads, and then turn on the heater/defroster and get instant heat.
The question does deserve a thread because it comes up so often in other threads. ABS-based computer-controlled traction control on open front and rear differentials is a proven system on many offroad trucks. 95% of offroading lockers are not necessary with modern ABS traction control.
Toyota...
Yeah, I'd option Advanced Transfer Case no matter the trim. It's a proven reliable system in other Ford platforms. The additional versatility is a great thing at a reasonable cost.
That's a good example of 4A usage. 4A is also fine offroading as you go through various surfaces. It's a good thing to have in any trim and seems to be a reasonable price.
Those 2" shocks are not as capable as the Sasquatch Bilstein reservoir shocks. I think the Squatch Bilsteins are 2" but have the reservoir on all four corners, that's like having 2.5" shocks on all four wheels.
The bottom line is Fox Ford Performance setup will not match the Squatch Bilsteins...
Workable for two adults overnight, or one adult and a big dog. It's an SUV, but similar to a Tacoma with a 6' bed and a topper. It will be rough with plenty of inconveniences, but workable. Need to urinate? Release the tailgate (internal latch would be nice) get cold and wet if raining, do your...
We have to keep in mind the SAE J2807 tow standard. Here is the Ranger specs that make it 7000lbs. https://www.ford.com/cmslibs/content/dam/brand_ford/en_us/brand/resources/general/pdf/guides/19Towing_Ford_Ranger_r1_Jan29.pdf
Look at the asterisk note: Notes: • Ranger calculated with SAE J2807...
Two things. E-brakes, the pads can freeze to the rotors sometimes. Had that happen often with DRUM E-brakes. However, I *think* the Bronco the e-brake uses the disc pads not a separate drum in the rear discs like a 4Runner so that's better.
Also, with an MT if you leave it in gear and don't...
I wonder how much articulation is lost Badlands vs BaseSquatch? 10mm, 20mm? Squatch has longer bumpstops that limit uptravel, but how much? And is the diminished Squatch uptravel compensated by longer shocks/coils/control arms for more droop?
Anyway, either Badlands or BaseSquatch seem like...
Would be nice to know the alternator amperage. 130A, 150A, what? Badass offroad vehicle should have 130A and factory upgrades to match the Wrangler. I believe Wrangler has 240A with the tow package.
I guess that is the bummer. Sure would be nice to know how the Squatch/Badlands suspension achieves a 40mm increased suspension travel compared to Base. Concise, comprehensive specs with explanations are needed.
Would be nice to also know the stock alternator amperage. After search all I see is...
Looking at the link provided above what stands out is this - Suspension travel front/rear (millimeters) 200/215 (Base) 240/261 (Badlands).
I don't know how Ford accomplishes the extra suspension travel be it via control arms, extended travel shocks, or the combination. Whatever method it's...
I hadn't considered mechanical LSD as an alternative, that's a good idea. Probably $600 parts plus install per axle. I imagine rear LSD combined with ABS traction control for the front would be a very effective setup, certainly would work very well for me daily and offroading.
I'm considering...
That is my understanding. Call it what you want - LSD, GOAT, VSC. With open differentials the ABS system will sense wheel slippage and apply braking to any drive wheel that is slipping.
You're in 2HI with a Base open rear diff? ABS will apply braking to the slipping rear wheel so the other...
