  1. Anyone else reconsidering due to lack of payload?

This. The 'range' of curb weights that varies by 600lbs isn't informative. Specifics, I need specifics. Details are important, the devil is in the details. Having said that, even if the payload in practice causes squat in the rearend (and that is where people will notice it), aftermarket will...
  2. Tow package hitch and plugs pics (2021 Bronco)

True. It's facepalm-worthy to hook up a 23ft 9ft tall travel trailer to a mid-size truck without a WDH/sway control and expect a pleasant Interstate towing experience. And then loudly complain to the world that the truck is at fault, yeesh. My several 19'-21' travel trailers towed by a Tundra...
  3. Tow package hitch and plugs pics (2021 Bronco)

Hopefully the Bronco is pre-wired for a brake controller even without the factory tow pkg. So yeah, a harness under the dash for aftermarket controller. That would simplify going aftermarket adding a ClassIII hitch. We'll find out when Ford rolls some out to customers.
  4. Towing w/a Manual 2 Door

Yeah you have to plan for at least partially full tanks. I'm not a fan of manual trans when towing, been there done that. Burned the clutch to the stinking point trying to maneuver even in 4LO. Also when towing you'll be going through the gears downshifting on grades and even the quickest...
  5. What song / music will you be playing in first drive of your Bronco?

And you old timers have Elvis to lean on. Elvis Presley - A Little Less Conversation (long version) - YouTube Elvis Presley - Rubberneckin' (Paul Oakenfold Remix) - YouTube Zydeco fans - Robert Graves Leonard's Slippery Sneakers Zydeco Band - YouTube Tony Joe White - Polk Salad Annie -...
  6. What song / music will you be playing in first drive of your Bronco?

I kinda like this weird instrumental by David Holmes, Gritty Shaker. David Holmes - Gritty Shaker - YouTube I can picture myself grinding up a trail listening to that.
  7. What song / music will you be playing in first drive of your Bronco?

Blondie "Rapture". You go out at night eating cars like Lincolns and Subarus. Blondie - Rapture - YouTube
  8. Why go 2-door unless you have to?

I never even considered a 2-dr. 4-dr versatility for me and the family. Not a toy to play around with or feel nostalgic. Bronco would replace the '08 4Runner 4WD as the versatile family hauler, offroader, and tow vehicle, 21g fuel tank vs 17g struck me as important.
  9. Towed a 3500 lb Airstream behind a Wrangler with no problems.

That 167rbk shows 385lb tongue weight. Salem FSX 167RBK | Forest River RV - Manufacturer of Travel Trailers - Fifth Wheels - Tent Campers - Motorhomes (forestriverinc.com) Bronco ClassII factory hitch is 350lb tongue weight max.
  10. Advanced 4x4 vs the standard option

To clear up some things I'll do some editing and make comments to the posts below: Yeah, pretty much that ^^^. 4H is fine on mixed surfaces as long as you don't move the steering wheel too much, 4A better. A little of this, little of that. Bronco can probably hit 110mph in 4H desert offroad...
  11. Is the towing capacity really that bad?

Good question. Sitting in my steep driveway right now, tongue is on the downslope, trailer is NOT level - 24" at the bottom of the tongue. That's just how I unhooked it for winterizing. My current tow vehicle, a lifted '08 4Runner with Firestone airbags in the same steep driveway the hitch...
  12. Is the towing capacity really that bad?

Yep, I commented on other threads the spare location might be a PITA. Pics I saw of trailers hooked up there's no way I could hook up my 19' trailer with a needed 4"-6" rise hitch (the trailer is lifted for offroadability). The spare would have to be removed or a hitch extension which would...
  13. Is the towing capacity really that bad?

Casita and similar are nice units. They're short on amenities though like a spacious bathroom/toilet/shower. Separate bed from dinette. Finding the perfect little lightweight travel trailer that can offroad towed by an SUV at a reasonable cost and hardside is a major chore, there are few. We...
  14. Is the towing capacity really that bad?

Maybe 90% trailer weight, and 90% tongue weight? I've never towed with a ClassII hitch so I can't predict. I've only towed with ClassIV hitches on V8 4Runners and V6 Tacomas. But the basic engineering, the ClassII hitch, the 350lb tongue weight and gross trailer weight does not inspire...
  15. Is the towing capacity really that bad?

Ah, there's sooooo many factors with rear suspension with an SUV and towing. The tail can wag the dog with short wheelbase vehicles. Without a rear swaybar you generally stiffen the rear suspension with stronger springs, stronger shocks, airbags. 4Runners, people upgrade the panhard and control...
  16. Engine Block Heater

Quality synthetic like Amsoil in the axles, transfer case and manual trans is a good thing.
  17. Bronco traction control off-road ability?

IMO, ABS LSD a good comparison is 90% capability compared to lockers. One caveat emptor as pointed out in other threads is with IFS front differential the weak point is the CV axles. With a front locker the CV axles shear, common occurrence. Having only the rear locker engaged you'll do better...
  18. Bronco traction control off-road ability?

Electronic Traction Control is twofold in modern systems. ABS is activated when wheel slippage is detected, the slipping wheel will get brake applied so there is engine power delivered to both wheels. The second part of traction control (which pisses people off) is when wheel slippage is...
  19. Bronco traction control off-road ability?

It is a good topic since it's been brought up in many other threads. I'm a Toyota guy and the same questions arise on Toyota forums. Basically, if you understand how to use the ABS-based traction control, understand when to use the VSC OFF switch, understand the lamentable throttle cutoff...
  20. Bronco traction control off-road ability?

That's the question - how often do you REALLY need lockers? Answer is 95% of the time offroad you do not need a locker if you have computer controlled ABS LSD. The big deal offroading is tires, ground clearance, approach/departure/breakover angles, and articulation. Sure, it's nice to have the...
