Nice. I hadn't seen that previously. Ordered up a set. Is missing a ground plane and a little close to the light, but not bad.
What about mic placements in the cabin? Where are you guys installing it?
I would like to install a GMRS radio for use on my off-roading trips.
I wanted to find out where folks were installing their antenna’s and mic’s? I found the antenna mount that TrailRecon uses, and it’s ok but would like something more out of the way.
Regarding the mic location - curious to...
Thanks. I want the skis in a box though. I don't like having my bases/edges exposed to road salt and grime (as they were on the way home this weekend). That rack would mount the box (and any skis) so that they would be hanging off the back and unable to open the rear glass.
I would love to...
I tried this setup this weekend. It did "work", but was far less than ideal. The hitch is really heavy and caused the rear end to sag a fair amount - though I only had it loaded with 4 skis, a snowboard, and the box only had 4 ski boots and poles in it.
I'm still looking for a roof rack to...
Anyone purchased either of these roof racks and have a review they would like to share? I’m still in need of a rack and the Ford one seems unobtainable. I’d love to hear some reviews of either of these two racks - or others if they are available.
While your physics might be correct, the inconvenience of a trailer makes it a non-starter. Can't exactly park a trailer at a mountain condo for 4 days.
Thought I would post some pics of a slightly different setup. OE Hitch with a 9" extension from Amazon. It fits perfectly with the spare, even with the ski rack setup which protrudes towards the tire.
Another option would have been to mount the skis on the bottom and the box on top with the...
I just picked up the Yakima EXO system with a GearLocker box for the bottom, the top-shelf bracket with the Snowbank for the top. Using a 9” extension, it works pretty well.
Based on your pics, I picked up this setup over the weekend. However, I’m running the factory hitch, so need an extender. I had the 7” Yakima extender and that works but, as you said, can’t use the snowbank on the top shelf.
I have a 9” and 12” coming today to try out as well. Will post...
agreed. I adjusted mine per the spec yesterday. It’s much better, but still not perfect.
I really wish the car had a fixed roof and full-frame doors. Both seem gimmicky. A price I have to pay for styling and off-road prowess with on-road composure. Oh how I would prefer a large pano sunroof
My question is exactly that - can the top really handle that much weight? Has Ford published weight bearing numbers for the top itself? I’ve only seen numbers for their roof rack.
I’d be curious to know what engineering went into determining those numbers. Sure, there are more attachment...
