Ford needs to produce an optional hard top with a Defender-style, raised rear section, complete with the alpine windows. If not, I'm sure the aftermarket will.
[Indian Jones voice] "Gears... Why does it always have to be gears?"
Yeah, going 37s is expensive – lift, tires, gears, upgraded axles o_O Will be interesting to see what's required on the Bronco. Hard to imagine the stock IFS will hold up to 37s locked up on the rocks, but maybe we'll...
The JL Rubicon has 33”, but if you want 35”, you need a lift to not rub on flex. At least that’s what I remember. Might be able to trim the fender flares and get away with it, I’m not sure.
You don’t need anything much more than 4wd and good 32” AT or MT tires out here unless you’re going to...
In the Wrangler world, general rule of thumb for off-road capability is:
2 door on 33s = 4 door on 35s
2 door on 35s = 4 door on 37s
2 door on 37s = 4 door on 39s
A 2 door Bronco on Squatch 35s -or- 37s + 2" lift is going to kick ass.
Of course the 4-door longer wheel base has different...
Everyone lusting after the 37" tires with the 2" lift that have never had an upgraded rig before: Make sure you go to a tire store and ask them to show you a 37" Toyo MT (75lbs). Try lifting it, then imagine it with another 35 lbs of mounted wheel in the middle.
If you're upgrading tires...
No matter what, get that FE. You can always buy it and get the dealer to sell it used on consignment for you without it ever leaving the showroom floor.
Some of you here have never owned Wranglers, and it shows.
Ford has addressed nearly everything Wrangler owners have been asking for and more.
This is an insane amount of detail and maturity in a first year product.
Awesome. I wasn't too excited about the terrain modes, but the animations for them on the dash are SICK (at 0:56). Some nice drone piloting in this footage, too.
Awesome! Good to see some local folks on here, too. Did you happen to ask if they did X-pricing or any discounts like invoice? I didn't think to ask – I was just so glad they weren't doing ADM. I'm thinking on the First Editions, they may not want to go below MSRP, though.
Cool! Yeah, I worded...
Ford needs to get their act together and either mandate no ADM or give us reservation portability. Otherwise, I'm happy to cancel and come back in a few years when the bugs have been worked out.
