Because they want you to start at a higher trim. Notice the 5k difference for the two door and four door base? The 2 door price is only to be competitive with the base wrangler pricing, they don’t want people buying a base with zero options. They would probably prefer not to sell any two door...

That is a terribly simplistic way to surmise cost differences. It’s not like they’re just throwing 6 injectors in the glove box dude and looking for more money.

They use these surveys to gauge interest to set final pricing.

For sure. That’s right where I was thinking on the base, with reductions as you move up the trim levels that already have some of those features.

Bear in mind the pricing in those surveys is not always indicative of the final product pricing. Usually close but not always.

Funny but if it wasn’t for the four door there would be no 2 door. Watch the sales numbers when they come out, I think you’ll be surprised.
