Haha. Well, you've still got me second guessing. Ford's Preliminary Specifications PDF seemed to be pretty clear that they're forged, but that is "preliminary", and we know that things tend to change here in the world of Bronco. No worries... I'm sure that Ford will tell us after the ordering...
Not sure what you are talking about. The Badlands optional upgrade wheel is described, by Ford, as "17-inch black high-gloss-painted forged aluminum carbonized beauty ring, beadlock-capable"
I'm a big fan of anti-lock breaks. I wasn't saying that I'd rather not have it. Just that it's not magic. It doesn't allow your vehicle to stop as if it has good traction. So it's still good to know if there are some black ice spots hiding under the drifting snow. It's terrifying the learn...
Well, I still reserve my right to change my mind on this. I did use "probably" in my opinion.
Like you, I'm a Michigander, and I've spent 3+ months every year for decades driving in the snow and ice. And I'm regularly testing the current conditions by intentionally causing wheel slip on...
If I feel the ABS engaging, and it's a surprise to me, that's a fail. Yes it's a great feature, but it can't always save the day. It still increases stopping distance a ton vs having real traction.
You do you.
The reason that I'll probably never use it is because I prefer to be in control when I drive. Surprises are not my friend. Other drivers may feel that the computers and mechanicals can do a better job deciding how/when various nannies should get engaged. This doesn't work for me.
If the...
#5 - it called to me... before it ever even existed... in dreams and faint whisperings from the ethereal realm of possibilities... and then it appeared
#4 - for the 1% of times where the BadAss features will save the day
#3 - the knowledge that no place I will want/need to go will be...
I suspect that the Goodyears will be an acceptable, slightly more aggressive hybrid when compared to the KO2s. They're not likely to be as bad in snow, wear as quickly, nor be as noisy as traditional mud terrains, but at this upcharge over the KO2s, a known great tire?
So I'm with...
I just wish that you could upgrade the wheels without going to the Goodyears. I have a very hard time believing that the Goodyear Territories are going to be worth an extra $140 per tire over the KO2s.
On a side note, anybody care to venture a guess on how much weight per corner the beadlock...
Hmm. I still have a reservation in there at around #230,000. Starting to wonder if it might be worth something.
Their reservation numbers actually were sequential, at least at the time.
Thanks -
Thanks. Saw these in the other thread and it is exactly as I feared. Clearly the body paint is a cooler (bluer) version of Carb Gray. I'm still considering this color, but I'd hoped for a better hue match.
Maybe they will add color/finish options for the beauty rings for the beadlock capable wheels in a future iteration on the B&P. After all, Ford is listening ;)
Thanks Mike. Things like this "warmth" are exactly what I'm worried about. I'm Just going to have to wait until there are some real photos of Carbon Gray with the MIC top. I'm less concerned about a subtle hue to the paint than I am with an odd hue mismatch against the top.
This thread has made one thing very clear... I really don't like the looks of the Explorer :)
Thanks for the photos. They are very helpful. I was already planning to hit my local dealer once some of their Carbon Gray F150s come in. I didn't realize that the Explorer was also available in...
