You are correct, the rack and all attachments do add weight. Choosing the Platform K is lighter than the Platform B.
One also has to keep the rack gear to a minimum and focus on what cannot or should not be stowed in the cabin.
With a 2-Door, extra fuel might be necessary and a good candidate...
I have a LockNLoad Platform K (55"X49") I also purchased the Yakima Crossbar Clamps and plan to attach them to the Ford crossbars.

Excellent thread! Thank you!
It sounds like you find the Ford soft top to be OK. Would you consider replacing it with the Bestop twill if one were available? (Can not find it listed on the Bestop website.)
Today I drove to Irwin Ford in Laconia, NH to look at the 29 Broncos being prepared for the Off-Roadeo New Hampshire.
This was my first time looking at all the available colors side-by-side. Without a doubt, my decision to purchase a Carb Gray Bronco was reinforced. Especially when you pair it...
Stopped at Irwin Ford in Laconia. NH to look at the Broncos for the Off-Roadeo New Hampshire at Gunstock Mountain Resort.
I counted 29 total. Within the 29, a total of 27 of the 4-door model and 2 of the 2-door model. Within this collection of Broncos, I saw the following: Base = 1, Big Bend...
Today I drove to Irwin Ford in Laconia, NH where they have 29 Broncos ready for the New Hampshire Off-Roadeo at Gunstock Mountain Resort starting on August 16.
This Base Sasquatch 2-door Bronco caught my eye. Stunning!

This 2-door Bronco in Oxford White caught my eye. Stunning!
If the "Badlands" badges are replaced with the "Bronco" badge as shown above, that might create options for a Badlands identifier. If the new Badlands identifier was black metal using the same script/font size, it might work on the tailgate under a black bucking Bronco. Clearly, scale is...
I like seeing ideas to personalize each Bronco. Like yourself, I like the name “Badlands”. For me, less is more. My build will be a Badlands 2-Door in Carb Gray, so the ideas flow from that image.
I might start with switching out the bucking Bronco on the tailgate from chrome to black. With the...
I understand the attraction of a removable roof. It is compelling.
But some buyers need a roof rack and towing capacity to live their adventures. Having four doors and a truck bed and can tow 7500lbs are also very compelling. Especially if Ford understanding a buyer who wants to stay within...
As each weeks passes, we get closer to Ford announcing the redesigned 2022 Ford Ranger. For some potential Bronco buyers, that may be a viable alternative. With my focus on overland adventures with off-the-grid camping along the way, a Ford Ranger FX4 or Ranger Tremor might be something to...
Interesting times for sure!
If the issue involved safety, I would be more confident of a Ford solution. It may be cosmetic and annoying. In that case, live with it might be the Ford reply.
Options to consider for 2-door owners are more limited. Change to priority 99 and reassess when time...
Keep in mind, the Ford Dealers Association speaks with one voice. That is where true power resides. Everything else tends to be imaginary in our own minds. Play your cards well! ;)
In many ways, I see the process we are in as a high stakes poker game. Ford may feel they have the better hand. More reservations than they can currently handle, a dealer networks which needs vehicles to sell and can seem to sell anything on their lot, and a continuing positive hysteria for...
Some organizations do not like to publicly address an issue until a workable solution is ready. That approach may work fine if the duration of time does not exceed 4 weeks. However, if Ford needs more time some communication might be wise. Time will tell!
