The painted top is not quieter. I have a 2025 2dr with MIC, and a 2025 with painted top. Painted is much louder. In fact it measures a full 10 dB louder at 65 mph, and 12+ dB louder at higher speeds. The MIC sound level never goes above 75 dB. I've measured the painted top at 90 dB - that's...
To be clear, it was offered in the 25 Badlands for the first half of the year (Job 1) but removed for the second half of production year (Job 2). I have an earlier '25 Badlands, and it does have the auto-dimming mirror.
Mine also does not have it, and it's a 2025 Base SAS, Job 2 build (Nov 2025). In fact if you look under the dash, the light bracket is there, but no light module is installed.
The early 2025 Order Guide lists "Ambient Footwell Lighting" but on the updated guide it is not there. So essentially...
2025 BaseSquatch 2.3 auto, getting 18-ish around town, and 20.4 on the highway. Doesn't vary much.
Also 2025 BL non-sas 2.3 MT 4dr for comparison, always get over 20. On road trips, 23-ish.
Both bone stock (for now).
I wasn't really in a position to troubleshoot, I mainly wanted to back out of a trail; but I did try:
Accessory on (no engine start) from being completely off - still locked.
Cycle Accessory (on, then off) - still locked.
Start engine - still locked.
Parking brake on/off, different gears...
The other day I was going down a moderate hill, maybe 12 - 14 degrees, and stopped to get out to check terrain. When I got back in, the seatbelt was locked. So now I had to drive without a seatbelt on a sketchy hill. Seems like stupid engineering.... but is there a way to release the seatbelt in...
The engine is not running in the first place. Releasing the clutch in 4th at 10 mph stops the engine. If you push the clutch in, the computer will start (restart) the engine.
If you aggressively jam it into 2nd as in your video, then you are just spinning the engine with the wheels - like...
25 Badlands. Tried this today and I can reproduce the issue - but, it's not because there's anything wrong. It's how the vehicle is driven. If I do exactly what's in your video - aggressively and quickly shift into 2nd - I get the same results. If I simply shift into second with normal timing...
Did I do it wrong? I thought it would be easier with everything removed.
Thanks Jose, that confirms my hunch. They really make me want to attach something though.
I noticed these while doing an oil change. There's nothing attached. They are not especially thick, and look like some type of accessory mount - radiator, intercooler, etc.
To add even more info, the Subaru uses a standard open center diff with a viscous coupler. The coupler has a temperature sensitive silicone based fluid. If front and rear axle speeds differ, the fluid heats up which increases the viscosity, making it act like a LSD. It's all mechanical. My...
Nope no lights. I just picked up a 25 Base auto, and had the same initial reaction until I realized about a half second later that it's displayed on the dash.
