A few of us did discover that the cameras have suddenly been disabled in Sand mode in our 21-22 Broncos. Cameras worked in 23-24s, and many of recall it working in ours previously. Just used Baja, but I'm not a fan of losing features to a poorly implemented software update.
Group photo on the...
Once in Florence, our plan was to take a day to explore near Yachats, and make it back down in time for the Sunset Beach Cruise. We ended up revising that a bit and drove all the way up to Newport, visited the aquarium and had lunch, then checked out Waldersport and Yachats on the way back...
Agate Beach Campground near Trinidad, CA
Queen air matress and 2-person sleeping bag takes up one end of the tent with a little room on either side. Leaving the other end for gear, changing, whatever. Easiest tent to setup and takedown I've ever encountered.
So we just got done with our one big Bronco-related trip for this year, and we turned this into a slightly longer trip with a couple of objectives:
Attend the 2024 Northwest Bronco Roundup in Florence
Scout out more of the Oregon coast
Try camping with my wife
We're leaning towards eventually...
2024 has been a busy year that unfortunately left me with much opportunity to get off-road.
Eldest graduated high school, and we got him moved to campus to start college; wife is working on her MBA; busy with projects at work; etc. Just busy.
My wife did get me a Mabbett tailgate table that...
The Falkens were great on the Lost Sierra. Not sure if it was the tires, the slightly increased ground clearance, or just a bit more experience off road, but seemed to handle obstacles a bit better.
The snow trip on MET was a little different though. Twice I went off the trail and had to be...
Only issue we had in the sand was the night of the beach cruise. Getting off the beach requires climbing up a roughly 50ft dune. Everyone's getting a running start, and so did we. My mistake was not waiting for the guy ahead of me to completely reach the crest of the dune. He was just before...
Which brings us to August 2023 and our first Northwest Bronco Roundup.
This event happens every year in Florence, OR and is simply awesome.
A horde of Broncos descend on a small coastal town and the dunes and just all around have a great time for a few days. Driving the dunes, a tour of area...
Local Bronco club sponsored a trail up in the Sierras. So the wife and I went up and helped with the trail cleanup.
I would say this was our first encounter with fording streams in the Bronco, but that wouldn't cover it. We had enough snow melt that the "trail" was more like a "stream" in...
Next up was a "Bronco Academy"
Local event I had a small part in helping organize at a local OHV park (Prairie City). Some really experienced guys spotting for and giving tips to any and all Bronco owners that showed up.
Had a good turnout.
Another upgrade came out of the Moab trip, which I refer to as my "Daveshelf".
Steel shelf mounted above the cargo area using a pair of Traction Board brackets from Pura Vida.
Absolutely love this thing. I keep my Voodoo recovery rope and MorrFlate house system up there. Doesn't take up any...
Only downside to Moab was I had a head cold the whole time.
I had originally planned to take 2 days to get there, 2 days in Canyonlands, a day in Arches, and drive the whole way back in one day. Since I wasn't feeling well, and we had some rain move in, I decided to forgo Arches and take 2 days...
Realizing I've been woefully neglectful in keeping this updated, and I'm in the midst of a few upgrades. So I'm going to try and recap things - probably mostly photos.
Big Bronco trip was back in March 2023: Moab
Some prep work and packing first. Spigot on the water Rotopax was a great buy.
Anyone have a link to any sort of documentation that states this is CARB approved for 2022?
The link in the OP just goes to the Ford Performance product page, and it currently states 49-state approved - presumably because the 2024 isn't approved yet.
Edit: It's a different EO. CARB EO # D-431-5
