If the car has been sitting and is really hot it takes a while to cool off, but once it gets going it is very good. Could be better for the rear occupants, so I'm told.
Shit, we're even more alike than I thought before. I did the front diff and t-case too. I didn't do the rear because I didn't want to break the seal popping the cover off. I really wish they would put a drain plug on there. I think there are aftermarket covers with drain plugs, and some day...
Yes, top of hash marks. You would laugh at how ridiculously few miles I've driven it. I've been hoping Ford sorts out the RUD issues and oil issues. My OCD is getting the better of me on this vehicle because it is a FE and I DO NOT want the engine replaced. I want to keep it for a long time...
do you plan on driving it? it's going to run like shit if there's no spark on 3 and could be a lot worse if you got something backwards. I would at Least make sure everything is connected correctly.
It was halfway up the twist. Just kidding. I donāt know how overfull they were but their failures were a combination of blown out gaskets, bearings, and bad knocking for whatever reason. Iām just going by what they told me, I didnāt actually witness or diagnose anything. When the owners...
You have to wonder why they put such a polarizing and unnecessary disclaimer in there to begin with, especially when they are so silent on everything else. Also, consider who the SSM is written for. Itās not written for us. The ownerās manual is written for us and the newest one doesnāt say...
Iām not saying that is the problem, but their silence on it is deafening.
I think they are working through that and will be changing to 6qts. Everything indicates they are moving to 6. Unfortunately these things do not change overnight.
Go with whatever makes you happy. I have an an engine that is known for failures, so I intend to follow Fordās recommendations.
If youāre in the 7 qt camp, I think the only thing to do is do what Ford does, not what Ford says (or doesnāt say in this case). If Ford continues putting in 7...
I would have to go back and read all the RUD failures, but one thing that sticks in my mind is a lot of the RUDs happened on the highway, when the motor was really humming along, which would be when an overfilled engine would cause the most problems by aerating the oil as opposed to low rpm.
