So I didnt need to mask anything off as I removed the rings and sprayed them separately. But in the past when I dipped wheels, I found that a deck of playing cards tucked between the tire and the rim worked really well. Just need to put bags behind the wheels to keep it off the brake/hub/etc.

Here’s the finished product on the other wheels. It’s very subtle, almost like I just blacked out the rings, but from certain angles the bronze shows up.

I think I vote for the velco mat option, but I could probably be talked into the bolt down method. I have put some sound deadening down, so I worry the velcro might not like it.

I did this exact upgrade over the weekend. I would say it is slightly better. Had the top off when I initially turned it on and tested and was kind of bummed it wasn't great, but once I put the top back on and I guess sealed the cabin, it does sound better. I think I am still going to look...

I had mine on the xbrace in the back. It was just “ok”. I had it on my spare in the badlands, but was hoping inside would work. I just didn’t like how washed out it was. Just moved it to a KC lites spare tire light kit. It is perfect again. I’ll just deal with the weather. Here it is.

I might look into cutting the stock floor so it fits between the rails and gorilla taping it under the trail deck. While my bronco is darker color, it still pokes my OCD to see all that unfinished metal back there.
