2.3 is what they use at Bronco Off-Rodeo in New Hampshire goes everywhere fine. My 2.3 BD has the manual so there’s that. Go with the 2.3 and you get 275hp on regular, 300hp on 93octane, and 330hp with the Ford Performance tune.
I don’t know for sure but Ford says any engine newer than 2018 does not need an after-market a/o separator due to a redesigned PCV system. I’d take that to mean it’s like all of their other eco boost engines that have included factory a/o separators.
The valve guides are lubricated in the valve galleries above the cylinders. Most Ford DI engines already have an included air/oil separator included which does what a catch can would do but plumbs fluids back to the crankcase. Carbon buildup should be minimal.
If you think you might want to get the Ford Performance M210 front locker diff upgrade in the near future get the advanced transfer case. Right now, that’s the only easy way to make that setup work.
