I've had the same experience. I'm more programmer than structural engineer, but I think the analogies are apt. When a new system is deployed it takes developers a little extra time to learn the load specs and to design new adaptations that work. The Wrangler platforms usually didn't change...
@Justinfro you're absolutely correct about the grill mounts being the most difficult part. But after removing those top bolts they went in pretty easily. Glad to hear you had good luck with the Dremmel. I did some test fitting and looks like I won't have to do too much cutting. I'm very happy...
Just installed the TAC brush guard that @Justinfro mentions above, and I couldn't be happier with it! Install was pretty easy and the included instructions were accurate. A couple of notes that I'll cover in a separate install post. As @Mike S says, the instructions are written for either the...
As I've always said, humans are a fine thing in moderation. I used to think I was a misanthrope, but it urns out I just don't like people in large numbers. It's not an agoraphobic thing, it's just that the anthropological dynamics shift in an unfavorable (to me) direction when any event begins...
While I firmly believe Amazon has descended into a front for cheap Chinese knock-offs, I believe it's still a bit like Harbor Freight in that there are real quality deals (ICON, US General, etc.) to be found if you have the patience to look with a discriminating eye. I just ordered this brush...
Congrats on your Bronco! That's an RJ11 and could go to a lot of things. It could power low draw devices or even be a microphone extension for radios. Not stock. I'd trace it to see what it's connected to. May be wired to one of your aux switches for a radar detector like many have said.
Very nice rig, and thanks for sharing. Particularly nice work on the grounding straps. Agreed, I originally wanted to use one of the aux switches to power the Yaesu but, like you said, they are bundled pretty tightly. And since I plan on mounting other powered accessories I was afraid they might...
Can you give an ETA? Won't hold you to it. Just an idea. I'm so pissed at Ford right now it wouldn't take much to shift me back to a Wrangler. When I ordered this truck I told them the steel bumper not thinking they had the "modular" bumper as well as this POS Capable Bumper. This thing is like...
Yeah, I just had the same faults show up on my dash. No rain here for the past week or so. Drought, actually. Happened while I was at a park with gravel trails so I assumed maybe a sensor was temporarily bothered by dust. I'm under 1,000 miles on this thing so I'll just return to the dealer. But...
I had a lifted Wrangler that our mom had a hard time getting in, so I got the Amp Research power steps since it wasn't a crawler: https://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/running-boards-nerf-bars-and-truck-steps/product-line/amp-research-powersteps
If you're dedicated to functional...
Sounds like you've already gotten the best advice from everyone so I won't pile on. I'd wager 90% of "low voltage" alerts in a new vehicle are continuity. Start with the negative cable, then push the fuses, etc.
The important thing is, you walked away. Second, and not to be a downer, but I don't see anything career-ending in that. Other than the control arm (and spindle), it looks mostly superficial. Looks like the steel bumper did its job.
This bumper is like birth control for front end accessories. I had the 7-inch Mopar lights over the winch of my Wranglers for years and loved them. But it looks like I'm going to have to settle for ditch lights with the Bronco.
