Australia retained the old school 70 series, and it's a great truck. You're right about Toyota USA needing something more along the lines of this... or better yet, a modern FJ40 and FJ45.
I think the orange is going to look best with a white roof, but a full black would look good. I'm not sold on gray. If I have to, I'll get it professionally painted with some type of strong plastic paint. I would do the same with the front grill. Then I would add a white vinyl rocker striping.
I was looking at the model comparison sheet PDF. On there, the Sasquatch items are list as "Included w/Sasquatch Pkg." or "Optional or included w/Sasquatch Pkg." However, the larger axle just says "Available."
You're probably right about the "high-clearnce suspension" as it is listed that way in...
I would bet that the connections for the 8" screen and the 12" screen are the same. Logically, they would just put on a larger plastic bezel in that space for the 8" screen. The bezel is likely removable. You could probably just go on AliExpress and buy that same 12" screen and stick it in...
In 2000, when I bought my Nissan Xterra 4x4, my wife was adamantly against me buying the Solar Yellow color, even though I liked it the best. So I got the primary red color. A few years later she said, "You know, maybe you should have gotten the yellow Xterra if you liked it. It does stand out."...
A "High-Clearance Suspension" is listed as a BD option, and on the model comparison chart it lists M210 Dana AdvanTEK at "Available." In this case it does not say "included with Sasquate Package." If that larger axle is an option, I could see a possible sway bar disconnect paired with it. Maybe.
I'm likely to use the Grabbers until they wear out. Those tires still get pretty good reviews. They are actually 31.6", so rounding to 32" is pretty generous.
After that, I will likely either get the BFG AT KO2 275/70R17 (32.2") or possibly skip the 285s and go for the BFG 34X10.50R17 (33.5") if...
I reserved there also, even though it's a bit farther than my closest dealer. They seem to have all around good reviews. Have you gotten any more than the initial email?
Actually, the real answer is that we don't know for sure. There may be several options not described yet, including some combo of larger front axle and disconnect. Front lockers are unlikely without the Sasquatch, however. I would say a very likely no to #1.
That's a 275, not a 295 or 285. BTW, the 275/70R17 BFG AT KO2s are likely what I'll opt for with the stock wheels after the Grabbers wear out, if I don't get wider rims.
Cyber Orange is fairly close to that color from 1974 — but a tad more orange than yellow. I would totally add wrap stripes for it to look like this. Sadly, no chrome trim any more.
