The explanation you give is totally believable. Believable, and it makes the most sense for Ford. Good luck as you wait. I have a very simple BB build and I have no VIN number or build date as well. I, too, plan to wait for as long as it takes.

This is actually pretty cool for Kevin. Reserved on the last day of October, then Ordered over a month after that process had begun... and has July build date. I've never claimed I knew what was going on, but this for sure tells me there are too many factors in play to really get upset over...
