The grab handles are 2 pieces, you may be able to find someone that wants to swap the interior color, but that'd be a bit difficult. They don't sell the colored insert separately, atleast on OEM part sites that I've found.

Yea, you can easily swap the grab handles and dash with any other trim. I swapped my gray base dash with the FE Black one, with the lower trim the bronze from the OBX.

I undid mine to put leather on the door trim of my base. I drilled out just the "welded part", then I used course thread pan screws to re-grab the tube. Its held up for over a year without issue thus far.

As far as I've read and known you should be okay. Did you have it attached to the speakers in a proper way also? I'd say to check voltage with a multimeter also to troubleshoot.
