I would say so. Closer to leather than the typical work truck vinyl. A lot of effort seemed to have gone into making this surface appealing and usable for the purpose it’s supposed to be used for. Checking the box for leather is a bad move IMO.
I don’t know about Ford Active X seating. But I’ll compare it to two leatherettes I know about and have had. Compared to 2016 4Runner: Looked better and felt more supple and soft

I drive a $73K Raptor, and I’m jealous of those miserable vinyl seats you speak of. 100% awesome and it’s unlike anything I’ve seen or felt before. Will be the best seat option, period. That’s my opinion
I promise you, after getting to touch the vinyl seat yesterday, that’s the softest damn seat out there. In this case, I would argue that the leather would be a downgrade
That’s an investment, not a cost. Your $650 investment tomorrow could be worth $1000 next year. So it’s not an expense.
I am not in the know on what the savings are going to be, but rule of thumb is the more your MSRP is, the more savings are going to be. I think it’s around 1% under invoice
