  1. Hitch (Curt) Install Help

Not sure what Ford used for their "Loctite" on the factory bolts for this, but even using hand tools I stripped the bolts trying to remove them, so just got the sawzall out to cut & remove them. I still blue Loctite-d all the bolts on hitch install. Also had to notch out the bottom of the bumper...
  2. Dash Cam fitting

Costco sells a TypeS dashcam that can run off a USB connection...and sticks to the inside of the windshield with a provided clear plastic sheet that makes it easily removable. Around $120, iirc...

  6. Recommend Tow Bar

Set ours up with the Blue Ox tow bars and wiring kit, although the Curt wiring kit looks cleaner. We use a Blue Ox Patriot for braking as we tow any of four vehicles and don't have a permanent tow braking system installed. We also used the RVi battery "adapter" for a positive indication our...

  11. Tires: Costco vs Discount Tire

Recently we were faced with the same cost conundrum: Costco quoted same as Discount Tire, but DT adds install costs. We decided to go with Costco for the first time in 25 years (more later)...and are notably unhappy. Heavy, non-repairable gouges on ALL FOUR alloy rims. Thankfully, they've...
  12. Tire shop over torqued wheels

The anti-seize is good for when your steel lug nut will slide on your aluminum rim as you tighten/torque it to prevent galling. Neolube ensures your torque is accurate for the clamping force the bolt exerts on the wheel to the hub and not just overcoming bolt/nut friction.
  13. Tire shop over torqued wheels

    neolube on your lug bolts...
  14. Add me to my local dealer p!$$ed me off list.

Man, dealers are a scary bunch, with smaller, non-chain ones seemingly the worst. Our purchase seemed to go well, but when we asked for cost to install the 2" receiver and a ProCal module, the figures came back with the labor portion inflated by a factor of four to five. Easy way for them to...

No facilities over the day, but satchels with bags & TP to use in the bushes as needed. And lunch, too...
