Finally got around to installing my FT-8800 a few weeks back, and figured I should share the install as well.
To mount the radio, I used an old winch plate that's been lying around on my workbench for years. It's definitely overkill for mounting a radio, but it turned out to be the perfect size...
Honestly, sometimes I forget how close it is to home! Left my house around 10 AM, and was home by 4. And that included an hour or two of running some errands on the way home. I really need to get down there more often.
Ended up at Five Mile today, just going solo with my son. It was a bit of a last minute thing though, as some previous plans got cancelled, freeing up my weekend. Had a ton of fun out there, and the snow made for some interesting moments. Made for a couple of slippery climbs in a few spots, but...
A bit bummed out - dinner is too early in the day, and I'm the turkey cook, so I'll need to bail on this one. Will definitely keep an eye out for future trail runs though. I've done this area multiple times during the winter on ATVs, so hitting it later in the Bronco should be fun too.
I went to Moab solo, and it was great. I rode lead w/ the instructor (Jamie), and got plenty of time to ask all of the questions I could think of. He was great to talk to, and put up every little thing I could think of to ask.
Judging a book by it's cover… it's a shame they replaced the Bronco on the front of the newer edition.
I've got the older edition though, and it's a good one.
Once we get closer I'll know for sure if I can make it. I put it on the calendar, then my wife reminded me that I may have a Thanksgiving dinner happening that day. Waiting on some folks to get back to me to know for sure.
Ever spend time in the Lehi area? I work around there, and if it's not you I've seen rolling around, then there's someone else with a similar Bronco cruising around.
Fantastic work though - I love everything about your Bronco.
Anyone else attend the Moab Off-Roadeo on Saturday, Sept. 23 @ 9AM with Jamie or Tyler as guides? I'm a terrible person and didn't stick around too long after dinner to swap photos, but I have a few I took that you can have if you want. …and hopefully you happen to have some of me ;) (I was in...
Actually love my stubby. With the music I already have downloaded to my phone, plus Spotify, Pandora, etc., as well as podcasts, using AM/FM is a last resort. Most of the time, I'd rather turn the radio off than listen to local radio, so reception isn't an issue for me.
Plus, I plan on...
Yeah, I figured it was some sort of shift cipher, but I was struggling to figure out how to apply the key. Thanks for the info. This has been fun even though I made almost zero progress. ;)
@NeoTreks - Now that the treasure have all been found, will you be posting the solutions to the clues? I made it to the cipher, but my wife and I have been stumped by that one.
At least you got to the cipher. Trail app isn't showing anything for me, and I've tapped on just about everything I can see. Is there a specific build version of the app you need to have? I'm on 1.0.3.
Likewise - had one in my F150 when some crap fell off of a guy's trailer, flew up and tore my mirror right off. He denied it, I showed the highway patrol the video, and he was cited on the spot. His insurance paid out for repairs with no questions asked when I sent them the same video.
I've...
