This is why I sent a used car from California out to Tennessee for my daughter. Kept looking on Carfax and 1/2 the cars were imported from NY, Penn, Ohio, or Illinois.
Well worth the $1600 to ship it. A 2009 Toyota would have been a complete rust-bucket if it had been from NY, etc. (or WI...
Yep. It would be nice if Ford would try and trace this problem down. The things Ford has that we do not... is the extra data of where & when these tops were built (that failed), what lines they were produced on, and what Broncos they were put on.
For example... if you knew when a top was...
You know... it does make you wonder why some folks (like me) have zero problems, and why some folks have had multiple tops.
You wonder if some MIC tops were built in one factory servicing one part of the country, or on one line in that factory, or they're put on torqued wrong by Ford, or how...
Sept. 2022 build Base 2022 White 2 Door with MIC top. About 16,000 miles on it. Always garaged here in Northern California. Been out in temps ranging from about 25 degrees to 110.
No problems so-far. I even check on occasion with a black light. Top has never been off.
2022 2Dr V6/Auto.
$ 300 for Clamber Running Boards.
$ 160 for Curt trailer hitch and trailer hookup.
$ 700 for OBX tires & rims (I have a Base)
$ 320 for 4WP rear steel bumper
- 400 (I sold steelies + tires)

$1080 total for accessories

I'll chime in with not having any MIC-top problems on my late 22 2-door. However, since some folks have had problems I'd go with the painted top now if I had the options... just for safety-sake.
1. Find a dlfferent Ford dealer. Sounds like the one you have likes to screw folks.
2. Publish who the dealer is.
2. Consider taking Ford dealership to small claims court.
Rule #1 -- Never let the dealer know that this one is exactly what you want. In fact, act a bit disinterested in it. Look at others.
I always wait for the question "what will it take for you to buy this one today" (especially at the end-of-month), and then I give them a figure they will most...
Reminds me of a month or so ago when Ford wanted to charge me about $10 for each of those plastic retainer/screws that hold the trim pieces around the rear-door. I had stripped two of them.
I said "no thanks" to the dealer and went and bought 50 online at Amazon for $10... you never know when...
Its real simple...
unknown-accident * (out-of-warranty + orange + manual) = (very small market)
I wouldn't touch it for over $25,000, and even then probably not.
Think about it...
a) If it were my first Bronco I'd want something with warranty and no damage.
b) If it were my 2nd Bronco I...
Gee, I had a 96 Big Bronco with (I think) a 350 in it.
96 sounded nice, and it looked nice.
96 also only got 8-12 MPG depending on how heavy your foot was.
96 was also A LOT slower than my 6G V6/auto 2Dr.
I'll stick with my 6G V6/auto 2Dr. I like fast, and I like 22-24 MPG... on the highway...
I've had one windshield replaced in 3 years... by Safelite (OEM glass). The guy installed and calibrated the camera without issue... at my home.
However, I am paranoid of large trucks, and try to go into a line with at least one lane of separation between me and a truck. I also NEVER tailgate...
I haven't had any problems in 3+ years on my Base V6/auto. Granted I only have 15K on the odometer, but so far so good.
Of course... I've got that backup camera issue outstanding, but I've only seen my camera act up twice in 3 years.
Note: I'll bitch more if I start seeing cracks in the top...
Kind of makes me want to consider selling my 2022 2Dr... and there is nothing wrong with it yet.
But... here in California the taxes I'd have to pay for a new one would cost about as much as a new top on my 2022. So I guess I'll just wait and hope.
I think I would try and go to small-claims...
The 2.3 looks cleaner under-the-hood, and for awhile I wanted the 2.3, but my order was initially for a 2.7 and I stuck with that (in my 2Dr). I cannot complain. The 2.7 with the auto is the fastest 4WD I have ever driven, gets 22-24 MPG on the road, and has been completely reliable for 3 years.
