Amp and sub keep kicking in and out

I changed the amp and sub and it’s doing the same thing. It plays and then randomly goes off and on. Any ideas?

Which amp/sub? OEM? B&O? Aftermarket?

Getting too hot, thermal overheating, power or ground might have issues, short circuit or bad speaker impedance. All of those things could trigger protection mode on the amp. Ton of things it could be. Maybe speaker is wired for less than 2 ohms and amp can’t handle it.

Mine does something similar. There is a SSM-5447 OTA update that was supposed to be announced 2Q of 2026 but I haven’t heard of one dropping or any updates at all.
In fact I had to do some serious digging to even find this update.

It essentially says that there are “permanent DTC’s” stored within the ACM that even if cleared will come back. These DTC’s cause all kind of random glitches one of which is amp/subwoofer problems. Only fix is supposed to be an update to the ACM that will permanently clear these codes. Here is a link to where I found this info: https://dot.report/bulletins/11027613

It could be clipping, back the gain off on the amp. Are you running a single amp, how many channels?

I am having the EXACT same issue! Everything is fine for a few weeks, then I turn the car off, get up in the AM and all of a sudden the sub isnt working.
I'm going to add aftermarket speakers amps subs, but curious if the head unit is cutting out the bass to the sub randomly or if its at the amp/sub?

I brought it to the dealer, they replaced the subwoofer, seems stupid to change the speaker, the speaker doesnt just break and then start working again. Anyhow, any thoughts on this seemingly random issue?

I'm guessing they also replaced the subwoofer amp, which is bolted onto the side of the subwoofer... (or at least hoping they did). You don't have to replace both at one time, but ... who knows.

I do have a Kicker 8" right now that has a damaged coil that will work some of the time, and not work others - and usually starts working again once you turn it up loud enough. So a bad speaker ~can~ do that. But I'd admit that's not the likely cause - likely cause is the amp.

Agreed, its possible they replaced both, the write upnjust said "replaced subwoofer "
Between the rippling MIC roof, and this stupid intermittent sub, it really takes some of the fun out of a brand new truck.
Side note, im going to add aftermarket amps and speakers. Going to only run fromt left/right to a DSP and use that signal for amps back to front left right and separate sub amp.

Does anyone think the ACM is cutting the low frequencies intermittently? If so, seems like even aftermarket isnt going to help

To add more specificity, the sub stops working after I start the car. So ive been driving for 6 weeks since they replaced, and few weeks ago I start the car, no bass from sub. A few short trips around town, start the car again boom, its back.
So it doesnt cut out while driving or listening its seemingly random when starting the car after a few hundred times.
