Joined the family this weekend. I'm coming from the vintage Land Cruiser scene (still have my 1980 BJ41), but glad be a part of the crew. Excuse the fender flares...it's a Hawaii requirement to pass inspection. I have a set of RPM's on the way. 2022 7 speed.

Welcome aboard!!! I had a near mint ‘79 FJ40 for 20+ years and loved it but finally got fed up with the whole sourcing parts game when something finally wore out. I had so much fun driving my Bronco when I got it I sold the Cruiser back to the guy I bought it from and have not missed it one bit. Love my Bronco!!

Thank you sir! 79's are a great year. But you're right, they are a labor of love. I can't see ever selling the BJ41...there's something about a RHD mechanical diesel that warms my heart.

96k, brought her in for the "100k maintenance". Replace all fluids - 7mt trans, front/rear diffs, transfer case, coolant flush, oil. Replace spark plugs, tune up. I never noticed how rough it idled until new plugs and tune up. Probably should have done this at 50k or less. Hopefully get another 100k out of her.

Edit: in case anyone wants to compare, this cost me about $950 at the dealer. I am happy with all the service performed at my dealer, no complaints.

Super easy. Just heat up a little with a hair dryer or heat gun. Then just peel. Luckily my Bronco is newish and hasn’t been out in the sun much. So it came off easily

Today, I towed with the Bronco for the first time and she did great. I used a 2-inch ball with a 3-and-1/2-inch drop mount to tow a Uhaul motorcycle trailer from VA to PA and back. The automated trailer light check feature is very handy, I must say.

The trailer rode very slightly nose up when empty, but when loaded with a 476 lb bike and with 2 passengers in the Bronco, it was pretty level. Total loaded trailer weight was about 1350 lbs. I averaged about 20.5 mpg indicated on the highway with the empty trailer and 18.5 loaded, at about 62mph. On smooth stretches of highway, I couldn’t tell it was back there.

Anyway, that bike is now deposited in my garage…

It’s a leftover 2025 Royal Enfield Bear 650, “249” edition. There’s a cool story there.

Already planning on adding an aluminum oil cooler screen and lower skid plate for starters. Probably will eventually replace the tail light assembly with something more classic and less odd looking. It’s got just enough scrambler in it to contend with my steep gravel road and get me to and from the pavement for backroad rides. I think Steve McQueen probably would have loved this bike.

Might I suggest Motul e2 bike wash for the lower half (wheels, engine). I don't use it on the frame or paint but I've found it keeps the grimy parts really clean. Enjoy that bike in good health.
