I put together a simple mountain bike mount inside my 2-door using the factory floor tie-down points. Figured I’d share the parts list in case anyone wants to build something similar. The bike is an XL 27.5 Santa Cruz Chameleon with a dropper post. The passenger seat is all the way back and leaned out.
  • TNUTZ.com (main structure + mounting hardware):
    • (2) LH-015-A–15 Series M8 Locking Ratchet Handle (with washer + standard T-nut) – $7.90
    • (1) EX-3075-BLACK – 0.75" x 3" black smooth T-slotted aluminum extrusion (32") – $25.30
    • Shipping $20 via UPS
  • HomeDepot (tie-down hardware):
    • (2x) 1/4" spring link (170 lb rated carabiners) – $15
    • (4x) 1/4" black flat washers – $1
  • Amazon:
    • ODIER Bike fork mount (T-slot hardware included) – $16
Total cost: ~$85 all-in

How it comes together:
The T-slotted extrusion acts as the base and sits across the cargo area. I secure it to the Bronco using the factory tie-down rings with the carabiners, which keeps everything locked in place without drilling or permanent mods.

The bike fork mount bolts directly to the extrusion, giving a solid mounting point up front. The ratchet handle makes it easy to adjust the carabiners or remove the setup quickly without tools.
  • No drilling or permanent install
  • Uses existing tie-down points
  • Quick to remove
  • Cheap and solid
  • T-slot mounting options are endless

Very Nice hardtail! I went back to hardtail after many years on a full suspension bike. So much more fun to climb and makes the descents a blast.

I got a long travel Guerilla Gravity Pedalhead. Running the 150mm Mezzer Pro fork. Love it. I switch between 29 and 27.5 plus.

Nice! A long time ago I mounted the fork mounts to a 2x4 and stapled an old inner tube to the bottom to keep it from sliding. Still use it with some of my cars.

Thanks for sharing...I might have to steal this setup. Currently when I do put a bike in the back I have just been wedging it in similar to they way you have yours but strapping it to the passengers headrest via the seat post. I only do this infrequently since I mostly use the bike rack. But it would be nice to have a more solid inside mounting solution.

lol, I need to adapt my BMX bike to a quick release front hub, it hate throwing it into my wife’s car just to hit a park somewhere. and im too cheap currently to get a hitch mounted rack.
