Hi all,

I have a 23 Badlands Sasquatch that I've been wanting to do some suspension upgrades to in the near future. However, I'm not looking to run 37's. I think the OEM Sas tire size is perfect for my use case.

However, I would like to add some more suspension travel to the front and rear, and do it correctly as I crawl more than just the malls (well mostly malls, but I do offroad occasionally too 😂)

What are my best options for doing this? Not wanting to drop 10k or more, but I can stomach 5k or so if it means doing it right.

Thanks!

For 5k you're pretty much looking at coilovers only in the upper price bracket. Imo you're much better off with the teraflex falcon coilovers which have great travel numbers. Then you have a little budget for front UCAs and maybe even spring for rear uppers and lowers. Rock jock with Johnny joints for example, paired with the Falcons, will improve your flex quite a bit. Might want to fit in a track bar relo bracket and adjustable trackbar while you're at it. Wait for a sale and you can be pretty close to 5k

Your front travel is limited by your cv axle limits. there is not much to gain without changing from stock control arms. Comparing the big name coilovers the front are all within about 3/4” of each other in travel. You can gain more than that by manually discounting your front swaybar links when you go off-road.

The rear travel gains let’s just say are virtually unlimited being solid axle, you just need check out the build threads to see what route you want to go. Bolt on only or cutting and welding, it’s up to you.
under $5k you can do a lot to improve travel if you perform the labor. If you’re paying a shop to do the work plan on at least $1000 of that budget for coilover install labor alone.

Comparing shock lengths, you will see they will all be very similar. All shock manufacturers (including us) are focused on getting customers the most travel possible without doing heavy modifications.

As a shock/suspension guru I would focus on all the other benefits of aftermarket shocks and not just the longest travel shocks you can acquire. There are so many great features to desire than just travel numbers. Quality/construction/materials, adjusters, serviceability, warranty etc.

For rock crawling you would benefit a lot from just getting larger tires to clear those rocks. But good quality suspension will benefit your every day use and off-roading.

Lot's to consider, but being on this forum is a great start to getting feedback from those with experience.
